Sumikko Gurashi has become the official support character for the special exhibition “Great Antarctica Exhibition.” Commemorative tickets and original goods will be sold.

Sumikko Gurashi Becomes Official Support Character for “Great Antarctica Exhibition”

“Sumikko Gurashi” is a San-X character series based on the theme “Why is it so calming to be in a corner?” Characters such as Shirokuma, Penguin?, Tonkatsu, Neko, Tokage, and Ebi Fry no Shippo are slightly negative but full of individuality, captivating fans across generations from children to adults. The series celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2022.

Since April 2025, the TV anime “Sumikko Gurashi: Koko ga Ochitsukundesu” has been airing within Nippon TV’s morning information program “ZIP!” The fourth film, “Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Sora no Oukoku to Futari no Ko,” was released on October 31, 2025.

Now, “Sumikko Gurashi” has been appointed as the official support character for the special exhibition “Great Antarctica Exhibition.” Antarctica, where we can learn about the Earth through its ice, air, sea, and living creatures, is an important place where Japan has been conducting observations and research for over 70 years. This exhibition allows visitors to see, touch, and experience the results of that research while having fun learning. Highlights include powerful footage, a display where you can experience the fierce “blizzard” wind, and the Earth’s record preserved in ice brought back from Antarctica.

Furthermore, tickets for the “Great Antarctica Exhibition” with special Sumikko Gurashi fluffy stickers will go on sale. The popular fluffy stickers are specially designed with Sumikko Gurashi illustrations for the exhibition, complete with a colorful sticker sheet decorated with aurora designs.

At the “Great Antarctica Exhibition” goods shop, original “Great Antarctica Exhibition x Sumikko Gurashi” items will also be sold.
