Special collaboration sake “Ato” and “Hane” from “Uchuu Kyoudai” and “Kokuryu Brewery” have arrived. Pre-sale began on May 20, 2026 (Wednesday) at the “Uchuu Kyoudai official store”.
“Uchuu Kyoudai” is a manga by Chuya Koyama, serialized in Morning (Kodansha) since 2007. It depicts a rich human drama centered on Mutta, who challenges the grand dream of becoming an astronaut after age 30, and his younger brother Hibito, who realizes that dream a step ahead and lands on the moon, along with friends aiming for space and those who support them. As the series progressed, its popularity exploded, and it has been announced that it will conclude in July 2026.
In 2026, when Mutta progresses as an astronaut and Hibito becomes the first Japanese astronaut to land on the moon, coinciding with the timeline of the Uchuu Kyoudai story, the memorial limited edition sake “Ato” and “Hane” connecting Earth and moon were born.
Kokuryu x Uchuu Kyoudai: Ato & Hane Set
“Ato” is a sake made by blending aged sakes from various eras related to the story of Uchuu Kyoudai, using a method called assemblage. It is a sake that allows you to taste the long path the Nanba brothers have walked step by step since the childhood event when they looked up at the moon and vowed to go to space, using four vintage special aged sakes that correspond to symbolic events in the story.

“Hane” is a sparkling sake made using the “bottle secondary fermentation method,” a crystallization of Kokuryu Brewery’s long-cultivated techniques. The celebration and exhilaration of Hibito becoming the first Japanese astronaut to land on the moon in 2026 is expressed as a sparkling sake that pops in the mouth.
KOKURYU AWA Hane — Uchuu Kyoudai
A bottle with fine bubbles rising, where aromas of honey-packed apples overlap with hints of toasted cookies and white pepper. With a dry impression, flowing acidity and delicate bubbles meld, creating a creamy texture.
The jet-black packaging features a memorial design with Earth on “Ato” and the moon on “Hane”. When you open the lid, “Ato” reveals the Nanba brothers looking up at the moon from Earth, and “Hane” reveals the Nanba brothers gazing at Earth from the moon.
Kokuryu x Uchuu Kyoudai: Ato & Hane Set
Placing the two packages side by side creates a design where the brothers’ story travels from Earth to the moon and back, connecting as one story. The bottle labels feature calligraphy of “Ato” and “Hane” by Juichi Yoshikawa, a calligrapher from Fukui Prefecture active worldwide.
