Story
The story begins in Nagano Prefecture’s Yatugatake Mountain Range, on Miepo-dake. While Yamato Kansuke of the Nagano Prefectural Police was pursuing “a certain man” through the snowy mountains, a shadow suddenly appeared in Kansuke’s line of sight. Distracted for just a moment, a rifle bullet fired by “the certain man” grazed Kansuke’s left eye. At that instant, a massive tremor caused an avalanche, swallowing Kansuke whole…
Ten months later. Kansuke, who miraculously survived the avalanche, and Uehara Yui rushed to the scene after receiving a report that a researcher at the National Astronomical Observatory Nobeyama facility had been attacked. During the questioning, as the observatory’s giant parabolic antenna began to move, Kansuke’s left eye, now injured and monocular, inexplicably began to throb intensely…
That same night, a phone call came to the Mouri Tantei Jimusho, from a detective known as “Wani,” a close colleague of Kogoro from his days at the Metropolitan Police Department. Wani was investigating the avalanche accident at Miepo-dake that Kansuke was caught in and found Kogoro’s name in the case file. Kogoro promised to meet Wani later, but as Konan accompanied him on the way to their meeting spot, a sudden gunshot rang out–.
An unfulfilled promise and the lingering “zanzo” (afterimage/flashback) in a single eye. In the ice-and-snow swept mountains, the curtain rises on a destined conflict born from the white darkness–
