To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Super Dimension Fortress Macross series, the iconic space battleship SDF-1 Macross is joining the DX Chogokin line. This is the first product in the anniversary lineup, priced at 99,000 yen (tax included) and scheduled for release in November 2026.
The original Super Dimension Fortress Macross anime first aired in 1982, launching a franchise built around music, transforming mecha, and love triangles. The story follows civilian pilot Hikaru Ichijyo as he is caught up in a war with the giant alien Zentradi.
The DX Chogokin SDF-1 Macross figure is scaled at approximately 1/2000, with an impressive total length of about 650 mm, making it one of the largest items in the DX Chogokin series.
The figure faithfully reproduces the transformation from fortress ship mode to Strong Attack mode. It also features lighting gimmicks in the bridge, chest, and legs. Bringing the included bow of the Kelkaria ship near the chest and legs triggers a special lighting effect.
The cityscape base also includes a lighting gimmick that changes throughout the day, cycling through morning, noon, evening, and night. The assault landing ship Daedalus and the carrier Prometheus are also faithfully recreated. The figure’s design was supervised by Kazutaka Miyatake, the original designer of the Macross ship, ensuring top-notch quality.
This item will be available as a general retail release. While the price of 99,000 yen (tax included) is high, it offers exceptional play value for fans.
