Series Background
Sousou no Frieren is a manga by Yamada Kanehito (story) and Abe Tsukasa (art), serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday. The story takes place after the Demon King has been defeated by a hero party, following the elf mage Frieren—who lived for over a thousand years—and the people she meets on her journey.
The first TV anime season aired from September 2023 to March 2024. The second season, which broadcast in the January 2026 anime season, captured a wide audience, with multiple related keywords trending high on X every week and topping streaming platform charts. Shortly after the second season’s finale, it was announced that a third season covering the “Golden Land arc” will air on Nippon TV in October 2027, drawing excitement from fans both domestically and internationally.
