Live-action Movie “Osomatsu-san” Sequel to be Released Spring 2026! Rokutsugo Roles by Aぇ! Group & Kansai Junior・Nishimura Takuya

It has been announced that a second live-action film adaptation of Osomatsu-san is in production and is set to be released in Spring 2026. Stepping into the roles of the six good-for-nothing NEET brothers, taking over from Snow Man in the previous film, will be Suezawa Seiya, Masakado Yoshinori, Sano Masaya, Kojima Ken, and Kusama Richard Keita from Aぇ! group, along with Nishimura Takuya from Kansai Johnny’s Jr.

About Osomatsu-san and the First Film

Based on Fujio Akatsuka’s classic gag manga Osomatsu-kun, Osomatsu-san was first adapted into an anime in 2015. The series quickly became a social phenomenon, captivating fans with its anything-goes, unpredictable stories centered around six brothers who are over 20, still NEETs, but somehow lovable. Its popularity wasn’t limited to the anime series; it expanded into films and 2.5D stage plays, continuing to passionately capture fan hearts.

The first surprising live-action film adaptation came out in 2022. Starring the male idol group Snow Man, this unexpected collaboration became a hot topic. The film successfully captured the chaotic world and slapstick comedy of Osomatsu-san while offering unique interactions and story development only possible in live-action. It was a massive hit, earning 1.67 billion yen at the box office.

The New Cast: Aぇ! group and Nishimura Takuya

For this newly announced second live-action film, the six good-for-nothing NEET brothers will be played by Aぇ! group and Kansai Johnny’s Jr.’s Nishimura Takuya. Formed in February 2019, Aぇ! group has held a solo event at Kyocera Dome and made their highly anticipated CD debut in 2024 with 《A》BEGINNING. Their debut single sold 625,000 copies in its first week, topping the charts and creating a huge buzz.

The five members—Suezawa Seiya, Masakado Yoshinori, Sano Masaya, Kojima Ken, and Kusama Richard Keita—who are active not only as a group but also individually in dramas, stage plays, and variety shows, will portray Osomatsu, Karamatsu, Choromatsu, Ichimatsu, and Juushimatsu, respectively.

Kansai Johnny’s Jr.’s Nishimura Takuya topped the “2023 Second Half National Treasure-Level Ikemen Ranking” NEXT category in the popular female fashion magazine ViVi‘s poll. He appeared in the film Koi Wazurai no Ellie and starred in the drama One Room Angel. With his sweet looks and sometimes cool expressions, Nishimura, who is sure to be a breakout star as an actor, will play the youngest brother, Todomatsu. With all six lead actors hailing from the Kansai region, we can expect a burst of Kansai-style comedic timing!

Director and Scriptwriter

Taking the helm for this film is Director Kawamura Taisuke, who made his film directorial debut with Nodame Cantabile and has created many popular works such as Ai Uta: Yakusoku no Nakuhito and Shoujiki Fudousan, which is set to have a sequel film in 2026. The script will be penned by Takuma Takayuki, who is also active as an actor appearing in numerous dramas and films, while also working as a scriptwriter and director.

With new staff and cast, anticipation is high for this upgraded Osomatsu-san world that retains its chaotic essence while getting even more powerful. Comments have been received from the members of Aぇ! group and Nishimura, as well as from Mukai Kouji of Snow Man, who played Osomatsu in the first live-action film, and Producer Sugahara Daiki.

Osomatsu (Eldest Brother) – Suezawa Seiya (Aぇ! group)

First off, I’m honored that Aぇ! group’s first starring film is “Osomatsu-san.” Since it has strong comedy elements, I’m really looking forward to filming, as I think this work will fully showcase Aぇ! group’s usual rhythm and close camaraderie. Nishimura will also be joining us as Todomatsu, the youngest of the six brothers. Although he’s our junior, I hope he thoroughly enjoys himself as one of the six siblings. We’ll firmly take the baton from Snow Man and aim to create a newer, funnier, and more energetic work. We have wonderful cast members, and I’m personally happy to be involved in this work as Osomatsu, so please come and enjoy the new “Osomatsu-san” in theaters!

Karamatsu (Second Brother) – Masakado Yoshinori (Aぇ! group)

It was a secret dream we whispered about even during our junior days: for all of Aぇ! group to do acting together in a film or TV show. This work, from “Osomatsu-kun” to “Osomatsu-san,” is something many generations have memories of and affection for. Because of that, I feel the pressure intensely, but Aぇ! group and Kansai Johnny’s Jr.’s Nishimura Takuya, the six of us, want to fully enjoy this Osomatsu-san in our own way. And of course, since we’re doing it… I want to say, we’re aiming to surpass Snow Man! Please look forward to the second Osomatsu-san film!

Choromatsu (Third Brother) – Sano Masaya (Aぇ! group)

We’re doing live-action after Snow Man-san? When I first heard, I was surprised, but after reading the script together and laughing, all my anxiety flew away. We are six Kansai natives who are excellent at being serious while fooling around. Osomatsu-san played by Aぇ!… doesn’t that sound interesting?! And if you add Nishimura Takuya, who has that cute element that Aぇ! lacks… isn’t it just perfect?! We will shoot this film with love for the work and the characters, so that you can immerse yourselves in the Osomatsu world with peace of mind. We six siblings will get along well and do our best to deliver something even more powered up!

Ichimatsu (Fourth Brother) – Kojima Ken (Aぇ! group)

I’m very excited that Aぇ! group and Nishimura Takuya will be starring in the movie Osomatsu-san. Aぇ! had a program where we did one stage play every month for about four years, so reading the script felt a little nostalgic. This is my first time acting with Nishimura, but I think having him join Aぇ! will create a different feeling for us compared to before, so I’m looking forward to that chemical reaction. This is the second film, but we want to enjoy performing with the tempo and energy that only we, raised in Kansai, can bring.

Juushimatsu (Fifth Brother) – Kusama Richard Keita (Aぇ! group)

When preparing for this role, I watched the anime, and I really liked the surreal atmosphere of the series, so I’m looking forward to seeing if we can recreate or pay homage to that surreal feeling in live-action. Within that, Juushimatsu, who is always smiling, is the complete opposite of my usual self, so that’s something to watch out for. Since my debut, I haven’t co-starred with Nishimura (Nishitaku), so I’m happy to welcome him back as a Kansai family member, as our youngest. It’s an honor to be able to do the second film of a work that’s important to Snow Man-san, and while there’s pressure, we’re challenging ourselves with the mindset of surpassing them. We want to create an addictive work that makes people want to visit the theater again and again. Please come see a slightly different Aぇ! group and Nishimura Takuya on the big screen.

Todomatsu (Youngest Brother) – Nishimura Takuya (Kansai Johnny’s Jr.)

I will be playing the youngest brother, Todomatsu. I’m Nishimura Takuya. Aぇ! group-san and I, the six of us, will be doing the second Osomatsu-san film. As a work passed down from Snow Man-san, and being in a position to join Aぇ! group-san, I feel both pressure and excitement! As the youngest brother, Todomatsu, I hope to inject youthful energy into the work! I believe we six, being from Kansai, can create a unique atmosphere and expressions that only we can deliver, so please look forward to the second Osomatsu-san film!

Mukai Kouji (Snow Man)

Congratulations on the second film adaptation of “Osomatsu-san”! First of all, I’m happy that there’s a second film, and also that these six juniors from the same agency will be doing it, so I’m cheering them on! This is a work that the nine of us in Snow Man cherished, and we feel that our group grew thanks to “Osomatsu-san,” so I hope it gets just as much, or even more, excitement! Producer Sugahara Daiki

Given that the original “Osomatsu-san” is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, we decided to produce a second live-action film. I am honored to produce this film following the previous one. And this time, Aぇ! group and Nishimura Takuya will be playing the Matsuno family’s six siblings. The reason for casting Aぇ! group is their individual talk skills, of course, but also their incredible explosive power when they come together as a group, which I believe they can fully demonstrate in the world of the film “Osomatsu-san.” With Nishimura Takuya from the same Kansai Johnny’s Jr. joining them, I can see a scene where an “interesting” chemical reaction like no one has ever seen before will occur!
