A new steel andon (paper-covered lamp) inspired by the mysterious three-pillar torii gate that appears in the Mononoke the Movie trilogy is now accepting pre-orders. The lamp features a delicate cut-out design on three sides, each side depicting the fusuma-e (sliding door painting) motif from one of the three chapters. Pre-orders are open at Animate stores nationwide, the Animate online shop, and Movic Communication Sales until June 14, 2026.
The Mononoke anime follows the enigmatic Medicine Seller, voiced by Kamiya Hiroshi, as he travels the land to exorcise mononoke—spirits born from human emotions and grudges. The series originated from the “Bakeneko” arc of the 2006 series Ayakashi and spun off into its own TV series the following year. In 2024, the story moved to the Ōoku (the inner chambers of Edo Castle) for a trilogy of theatrical films: Mononoke the Movie: Karakasa (July 2024), Mononoke the Movie Part 2: Fire Rat (March 2025), and Mononoke the Movie Part 3: Snake God (released May 29, 2026).
