POP MART Launches Digital Monster (Dejimon) Magnet Series in China
China’s hugely popular blind box brand, POPU MAATO, has collaborated with the anime *Dejitaru Monsutaa* (known more commonly as *Dejimon*) to release a magnet series. Sales began in late April at POPU MAATO STORE locations across China and on their e-commerce sites. These magnets featuring classic characters who caused a massive sensation in China are currently the talk of the town, reimagined with modern designs.
*Dejimon* first aired on television in mainland China in 2001. The manga also started sales in 2005, selling over 1.2 million copies to date.

This new series features 12 designs, including popular characters like Gureimon, Garurumon, and Togemon (with 2 of the designs being secret types). Each magnet sells for 69 Gen (approximately 1,400 En). They are generating buzz on Chinese SNS for their high collectibility.

The design of the products incorporates elements of POPU MAATO’s unique “Chouryuu Gangguu” (Art Toy) style, giving them an artistic finish that sets them apart from other anime goods. The “Evolution Series,” which recreates the appearance of *Dejimon* at each growth stage, is particularly popular. Rare versions, such as evolved forms and special colors, are hard to obtain, leading to many comments on Chinese SNS like “I want to collect all types quickly!” and “I’ll keep buying until I get a rare one!”

Having loved *Dejimon* since I was a child, I decided to purchase one myself. I was hoping for Gureimon, but I got Garurumon (who I also like). The figure stands about 5 centimeters tall, and I think the painting and coloring are well done, resulting in a very high-quality figure. The back has the character name written in both Japanese and English; personally, I would have been even happier if it also included Chinese.

According to POPU MAATO’s announcement, the “Dejimon Magnet Figure” series completely sold out within about three days of its release. Against the selling price of 69 Gen (approximately 1,400 En), reselling has already begun on the Chinese version of Merukari, with the most popular character, Gureimon, being traded for over 150 Gen (approximately 3,000 En).
Notably, this product was developed as part of a commemorative project celebrating the 25th anniversary of the *Dejitaru Monsutaa* anime broadcast, which began in 1999.
Currently, the products are sold out, but POPU MAATO says the factories are working on rush production. Since this product is exclusive to China and not available in Japan, it’s quite disappointing for fans there. However, for those who love *Dejimon* and visit China, it’s definitely something worth trying to find and buy!
