Summer anime Reiwa no Dara-san has released a synopsis and advance scene cuts for its first episode, titled “Imi chi no Yamatagimadara” (The Forbidden Land’s Yamatagimadara), which begins airing on July 2, 2026.
Based on the manga by Tomotsuka Haruomi serialized on Kadokawa’s Comic Walker and Nico Nico Manga, Reiwa no Dara-san is a new-sensation occult comedy born in the Reiwa era. Directed by Rihito Suzuki, the animation is produced by Asahi Production.
The cast includes Mutsumi Tamura as Dara-san, Minami Tsuda as Hinata Sanjuugiya, Momoka Terasawa as Kaoru Sanjuugiya, Aoi Koga as Shu Hasegawa, Tomokazu Sugita as Naomichi Fudeki, Mai Aizawa as Miwa Isogo, Saori Hayami as Ane Miko, Hōchū Ōtsuka as Orochi, and Masaki Terasoma as the narrator.
The story begins on a stormy night when Hinata and Kaoru, born into the Sanjuugiya family that has managed a mountain containing a strictly forbidden area, step into the taboo land. There they encounter Yamatagimadara, a massive snake-like curse god. Far from being afraid, they immediately befriend the creature, calling it “Dara-san.” As the fearless siblings run circles around the curse god, the monster ends up playing the straight man. Thus begins a noisy yet heartwarming daily life between a curse god with a tragic past and a pair of overly free siblings.
Episode 1 Synopsis: “Imi chi no Yamatagimadara”
On a night of heavy rain, Hinata and Kaoru Sanjuugiya, worried about their grandfather Hyogo who went to check the mountain, head toward the forbidden area.
There, they encounter the strange being that dwells in the mountain, Yamatagimadara. Though it is supposed to be a fearsome curse god, the two quickly befriend it…!?
The first episode of Reiwa no Dara-san will air on July 2, 2026, on TOKYO MX and other channels.
