Based on the novel of the same name by Kizaki Chiaki, DOPE Mayaku Torishimabebu Tokusou-ka is a narcotics control action-entertainment set in a near-future Japan plagued by the spread of the mysterious new drug 【DOPE】. The story follows two completely opposite companions as they take on inexplicable cases.
The drama centers on the unlikely pairing of the rookie narcotics control officer Saiki Yuuto, played by Takahashi Kaito, and the unconventional and somewhat unreliable mentor Jinnai Teppei, played by Nakamura Tomoya. As this mismatched duo teams up, they gradually influence each other and change, leading to a passionate human drama interspersed with authentic action sequences. In addition to Takahashi-san and Nakamura-san, the cast includes Arakawa Yuuko, Itoo Atsushi, Miura Masaki, Toyoda Yuudai, Kumada Rinka, Koike Teppei, Matobu Sei, Oshinari Shugo, Iriyama Noriko, Sano Kazuma, Souto Kouko, and Iura Arata.
It has now been decided that the voice actor Nakamura Yuuichi will handle the narration for the title back of this drama. Known for his extensive work in anime, games, dubbing, and narration, Nakamura-san is celebrated for portraying leading characters in numerous popular titles, such as Gojou Satoru in Jujutsu Kaisen and Matsuno Karamatsu in Osomatsu-san.
With his rich expressive power that adds depth to any work, Nakamura-san’s narration for the title back is expected to symbolize the world of DOPE Mayaku Torishimabebu Tokusou-ka. This drama features a title back that explains the work’s world. The title back is the entrance to the work, and its importance goes without saying. Furthermore, the narration for the title back serves as the work’s navigator, connecting the drama with the viewers.
When considering who should take on this crucial role, I felt it absolutely had to be Nakamura Yuuichi-san, and so I offered him the part.
I’ve written seriously up to this point, but forgive me. To put it simply, I am a huge fan of Nakamura-san.
I wasn’t considering anyone other than Nakamura Yuuichi-san.
On the day of the recording, he delivered a full performance as the navigator inviting us into this world. What’s more, he did so using two different vocal tones. It gave me goosebumps.
