The summer anime ‘Tenbin’ (short for ‘Tenkousaki no Seiso Karen na Bishoujo ga, Mukashi Danshi to Omotte Issho ni Aonda Osananajimi Datta Ken’) has released the synopsis and advance scene cuts for its first episode, titled ‘Hajimari no, Natsu no Hi’ (The Beginning, Summer Day), which begins airing on July 6, 2026.
Based on the light novel series by Hibari Yu with illustrations by Shiso, published under KADOKAWA’s Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint, ‘Tenbin’ is a romantic comedy about a boy who reunites with his childhood friend who he thought was a boy. The manga adaptation by Ooyama Kina has released 7 volumes, and the original novel will conclude with the 11th volume on July 31. Directed by Jo Denho, animation production is by project No.9. The cast includes Hasegawa Yumi as Nikaidou Haruki, Toki Junichi as Kirishima Hayato, Hanai Miharu as Kirishima Himeno, Haruse Natsumi as Mitake Minamo, and Izumi Fuuka as Murao Saki.
The story begins at the end of a childhood summer, when Hayato made a promise with his important male friend: ‘We’ll be friends forever!’ Seven years later, Hayato transfers to a high school in the city and reunites with that childhood friend, Haruki, who has become a beautiful and elegant girl. Although she is called an untouchable flower, when alone with Hayato, she laughs and acts like the old days. The series explores the changes between countryside and city, boy and girl, and the feelings and promises that remain unchanged.
Episode 1 ‘Hajimari no, Natsu no Hi’ Synopsis
Kirishima Hayato had a childhood friend named ‘Haruki’ with whom he often played. Their happy days ended when Haruki moved away, but at their parting, they promised to always be friends no matter the distance.
Seven years later, Hayato transfers to a city high school and meets the beautiful and elegant girl Nikaidou Haruki. While introducing himself to classmates, Hayato talks about his memories of the rambunctious ‘Haruki’. However, upon hearing his story, Haruki becomes inexplicably upset. What will Hayato do when Haruki confronts him?
The first episode ‘Hajimari no, Natsu no Hi’ will air on July 6 (Monday) on TOKYO MX, Sun TV, and BS Fuji, with subsequent broadcasts on other stations.
