The summer anime Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari has released the synopsis and advance scene cuts for its first episode, which is set to air on July 9, 2026. The series adapts the popular manga by Jinushi that originally debuted on Twitter (now X) in March 2022, where the first chapter garnered over 280,000 likes. It later moved to Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine and won first place in the Web Manga category at the “Next Manga Award 2022.” As of January 2026, the compiled volumes have surpassed 3 million copies in circulation.

The anime is co-directed by Suzuki Rihito and Mori Aoi, with animation production by Asahi Production. The cast includes Satou Takuya as Sasaki, Hoshiki Seina as Yamada/Tayama, Yukinari Toa as Gotou, Toyoguchi Megumi as Oono, Yasuda Rikuya as Obata, Hikasa Youko as Maezawa, and Takahashi Shinya as Suzuki.
Episode 1 Synopsis
Sasaki is a weary middle-aged man trudging along the corporate grind. His quiet solace comes from his beloved cigarettes and the cheerful service of Yamada, a female clerk at his usual supermarket. One night, exhausted from work, he heads to the store seeking comfort, only to find Yamada absent and no place left to smoke. Dejected, he is approached by a woman named Tayama, who is dressed in somewhat eccentric clothing. “You can smoke here,” she says—and so begins an adult drama.
