Kingdom Live-Action Film: Complete Cast, Characters, and Story Guide – Airing July 10 on Kinro Roadshow

The live-action adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara’s best-selling manga Kingdom is getting a special edition broadcast on Nippon TV’s Kinro Roadshow on July 10, 2026, at 21:00. This special edition of the first film will air ahead of the latest installment, Kingdom: Soul of the Decisive Battle, which opens nationwide on July 17. Additionally, on July 17 itself, a Kinro Roadshow original special titled Kingdom: Shin, Ouki, and the General—reconstructed under the supervision of director Shinsuke Sato—will air as a celebration of the new film’s release.

Story

In 245 BC, during the Spring and Autumn period of ancient China, war orphans Shin (Kento Yamazaki) and Hyou (Ryo Yoshizawa) train daily in swordsmanship, dreaming of becoming the greatest generals under heaven. One day, Hyou is taken to the royal palace by the minister Shoubunkun (Masahiro Takashima). Later, a dying Hyou appears before Shin, handing him a map. Following the map, Shin encounters the young King of Qin, Ei Sei (Ryo Yoshizawa), who bears an uncanny resemblance to Hyou. Shin learns that Hyou died as a decoy for the king after a coup by the king’s younger brother, Sei Kyou (Kanata Hongo). Initially enraged, Shin eventually accepts Ei Sei’s resolve and Hyou’s will, deciding to stand with the king. Joined by Karyou Ten (Kanna Hashimoto), a descendant of mountain tribes, and the loyal general Kabe (Shinnosuke Mitsushima), Shin and Ei Sei seek to reclaim the throne and unify China. They request aid from the mountain tribe leader, You Tan Wa (Masami Nagasawa).

Story

Three years after the Battle of Mayang, where Ouki fell, Shin (Kento Yamazaki) has risen to the rank of commander of a thousand men. But urgent reports reach Qin: the Zhao chancellor Li Mu (Shun Oguri) has orchestrated a coalition of all other states, amassing a 500,000-strong allied army to invade Qin. With only 200,000 troops, Qin faces extinction. Shin, along with young generals Mouten (Jun Shison) and Ouhon (Fuju Kamio), heads to the strategic pass of Hangu Pass. The great generals of Qin—Hyoukou (Etsushi Toyokawa), Mubu (Yusuke Hirayama), Tou (Jun Kaname), Ousen (Ayumu Tanida), and Kanki (Kenji Sakaguchi)—gather. The coalition is led by Shunshinkun (Takumi Saito) of Chu, with the vengeful Zhao general Mangoku (Yuki Yamada) among its fiercest warriors. The fate of the unification of China hangs in the balance in the desperate defense of Hangu Pass.
