Chinese Anime ‘Zijin Yu Mao Fang’ Gets Japanese Dub Cast, Premieres October 2026

The Chinese-produced anime Zijin Yu Mao Fang (Forbidden City Cat Guard) is set to receive a Japanese dub, which will air and stream as TV anime Zijin Yu Mao Fang ~Forbidden City Cat Guard Room~ starting October 2026. Along with the announcement, a teaser PV and concept visual have been released. The Japanese dub cast includes Ura Kazuki, Furukawa Makoto, Amamiya Sora, Tone Kentarou, Ootsuka Takeo, and Toono Hikaru, who have all provided comments.

The anime is based on a manga inspired by the real cats that live in Beijing’s Forbidden City. In a corner of the palace, a secret organization called the “Zijin Yu Mao Fang” protects the national treasures. Its members are six cats endowed with wisdom and courage. They enter the “Bukka World” to safeguard the memories dwelling in cultural artifacts, known as “Bukka.” Their mission is to defeat the evil “Black Owl” that harms these artifacts and restore order to the Bukka World. The lively, unique cats sometimes quarrel and sometimes work together to protect the precious cultural properties and the memories etched into them. A new legend unfolds in the Forbidden City, unknown to humans. The adventure of Soubi and his team begins as they protect the Bukka.

The teaser PV, released with the Japanese dub announcement, depicts the battle led by Soubi and his cats. The narration is provided by Ura Kazuki, who voices Soubi. Fans can look forward to future reveals of the main characters’ voices.

The main cast for the Japanese dub has also been revealed:

• Soubi (voiced by Ura Kazuki) – The leader of the Yu Mao Fang and the brain of the military officers.
• Oboi (voiced by Furukawa Makoto) – A military officer with a robust physique.
• Heian (voiced by Amamiya Sora) – A former stray cat who drifted into the Yu Mao Fang, skilled in disguise and medicine.
• Zeze (voiced by Ootsuka Takeo) – A military officer adept at information gathering.
• Rohan (voiced by Tone Kentarou) – The oldest member, serving in a support role.
• Momo (voiced by Toono Hikaru) – A support member skilled in information gathering and analysis.
