One of the world’s largest anime events, AnimeJapan, is heading to Osaka for the first time in 2027. The 14th edition, AnimeJapan 2027, will be held at Intex Osaka in March 2027, and the call for exhibitors has officially begun.

Since its inaugural event in 2014, AnimeJapan has grown into a massive celebration of anime, drawing over 150,000 visitors from roughly 100 countries and regions. The 2026 edition featured more than 210 exhibitors, around 300 showcased works, and stages with over 300 performers, living up to its slogan: “Everything about anime is here.”
After 13 years in Tokyo, the decision to move AnimeJapan 2027 and AnimeJapan 2028 to Osaka was influenced by the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, which attracted global attention, and Osaka’s historical role as a gateway for international trade. The event will offer both Public Days, where fans can enjoy exhibition booths and stage events, and Business Days focused on networking and commerce. The aim is to spread the appeal of anime to domestic and international business visitors as well as general attendees.
Exhibitor applications are now open for both Public Days and Business Days. Eligible organizations are companies and groups that contribute to the overall anime culture and the development of Japan’s industry. The application period runs from July 15, 2026, to November 2, 2026. For full details, please check the official website.
The schedule is as follows: Public Days (open to general visitors) will be held on March 27 (Saturday) and March 28 (Sunday), 2027, from 9:00 to 17:00 (last entry at 16:30). Business Days (for business discussions) will take place on March 26 (Friday) and March 27 (Saturday), 2027, with hours from 10:00 to 18:00 on Friday and 10:00 to 17:00 on Saturday.
Comment from the AnimeJapan Executive Committee
“The 14th AnimeJapan in 2027 and the 15th in 2028 will be held in Osaka, a city that has long thrived as a window for overseas trade and which will see many visitors from around the world during the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. We aim to deliver an even more evolved AnimeJapan to those who have attended before, and to bring ‘surprise and discovery’ as the world’s largest anime festival to residents of western Japan. Under the theme ‘Everything about anime is here,’ we will work together with exhibitors, creators, and anime fans worldwide to spread the charm of anime on a new stage in Osaka.”
