Kimi ga Shinu made Koi wo Shitai Episode 2 Shocks Fans: Shina Loses Her Arm, Mimi Heals with a Kiss

Summer 2026 anime Kimi ga Shinu made Koi wo Shitai aired its second episode, titled “Chanto Itai yo” (It Hurts Properly), on July 14, 2026. After the first episode earned praise for its high-quality yuri animation and serious war themes, episode 2 took a dramatic turn as protagonist Totsuki Shina found herself overwhelmed by the memory of a kiss—and then lost her left arm in battle.

※ The following contains spoilers for episode 2. Please proceed with caution if you have not watched it.

“An Age Where You Wonder If Everyone Has Kissing Experience”

In episode 2, Shina is still shaken after being kissed by her roommate Kagari Mimi in the previous episode. Mimi had kissed her to transfer magical power, but Shina can’t stop thinking about it. She spends another sleepless night, and during class she can’t help but wonder if everyone else has already experienced kissing. Fans online sympathized: “She’s at that age where she’s curious about everyone’s kissing experience,” “The protagonist is 14, right in puberty,” and “She’s so cute being so conscious of the kiss.”

Shina blushes every time she looks at Mimi sitting next to her and recalls the previous night.

Battle Animation Is Surprisingly Intense

The next day’s practical training is a mock battle. The teacher Omi calmly instructs the students to adjust their condition and conserve magic power. The mock battle involves fighting “virtual enemies” created by magic, and the goal is to defeat as many as possible. Shina has never been able to do anything against the serious attacks. Mimi, on the other hand, smiles innocently and says, “I just need to beat a lot, right?” and easily dominates.

Fans were thrilled by the detailed animation, intense action, and impressive effects. Comments included: “The battle animation is surprisingly intense, I’m amazed,” “The fight scenes are really well done, very satisfying,” and “They’re seriously animating the combat.”

The Power of a Kiss Is Amazing!

While Mimi defeats about ten virtual enemies, Shina is exhausted and hasn’t taken down a single one. She tries to pull herself together, but an enemy behind her slices off her left arm. Shina collapses to the ground, thinking, “What… this… I… die… no…”

The school nurse Fran explains that the enemy was real. Mimi returns from searching for Shina’s arm but cannot find it. Fran attempts to use a healing kiss to transfer a large amount of magic power to Shina, but Mimi, unable to bear seeing Shina limp, declares, “I’ll do it!” and kisses Shina. To everyone’s shock, Shina’s arm regenerates. Fans reacted: “The arm regenerated!” “A kiss healed the arm!!” “So that’s how you fix it!! The arm grew back! Amazing!” “The power of a kiss is incredible…”

“There Is Yuri There…”

When Shina wakes up at night, her left arm has regenerated, but when Fran removes the bandages, the wound is still gruesome. Fans were shocked: “The scar is so raw,” “Even after healing, the wound is terrible,” “It’s not fully healed! It’s gross!” Mimi, who has experienced her own limbs being torn apart by strong enemy magic, insists on seeing Shina’s wound. Shina mutters, “What would have happened if Fran hadn’t healed me?” Mimi reveals, “It was me who healed you,” and then leans in to “recreate it” for Shina.

Fans noted that episode 2 includes many anime-original scenes while staying true to the source material. Comments included: “The battle scenes and original animation were great, and Mimi’s cuteness and Shina’s innocence were well portrayed,” and “It’s been a while since I’ve seen an anime with so many original additions that are still amazing.” The series composition and script are by Jukki Hanada, known for Sound! Euphonium and A Place Further Than the Universe.

After the broadcast, original creator Aono Nachi posted an illustration of Mimi eating sweets with the caption “Delicious. Sweet.”

Animation studio ROLL2 also shared key animation from the mock battle featuring Shina, Mimi, Seiran, and Ari.

The non-credit opening and ending themes have also been released. The OP is “Amore” by ReoNa, and the ED is “Eternel” by sajou no hana.
