Summer 2026 anime Yani Neko has released a synopsis and advance scene cuts for episode 3, titled “Nyaa wa Boke yori Tsukkomi Yori Nya,” which begins airing on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
Yani Neko is a comedy based on the manga by Nyan Nyan Factory, serialized in Kodansha’s Young Magazine. It follows a group of irredeemably lazy, nicotine-stained cats living in a world where humans and beastmen coexist. The titular Yani Neko is a beastman who chain-smokes and loafs around—no money, no life skills, no morals. He’s thrown away manners and decency along with his cigarette butts. Dirty, smelly, and utterly shiftless, these cats somehow manage to get by. The manga became a social media sensation with the tagline “Pretty dirty, but just a little encouraging!” and now gets a TV anime adaptation.
Directed by Kimura Taku (Studio Lemon), the animation is produced by Bivry Animation Studio. The cast includes Natsuyoshi Yuuko as Yani Neko, Matsuoka Misato as Yaku Neko, Funato Yurie as Hame Neko, Shimizu Ayaka as Kansai Neko, Izawa Shiori as Aru Neko, Honzuki Rina as Meko, Akasaki Riko as Ochimp Taro, and Inada Tetsu as the Landlord.
Episode 3 Synopsis
Yani Neko joins some kids playing soccer in the park, but ends up being reported as a suspicious person. Well, that figures. Back at the apartment, the landlord yells at him, lectures him, and orders him to quit smoking.
But this guy shows absolutely no remorse.
In lieu of rent, he ends up weeding the garden, but his eyes are fixed on the landlord’s cabbage patch…
Whether there’s tobacco or not, leaving Yani Neko alone never leads to anything good. That’s the lesson for this episode (sort of).
Episode 3 of Yani Neko airs on Thursday, July 16, 2026 on TOKYO MX, BS11, and AT-X. The series began broadcasting on July 2, 2026. Streaming is available on Netflix and other services from July 2, every Thursday at 25:00.
