This summer, the world of Moominvalley gets a dreamy new look. A fresh art series titled “Daydreaming in Moominvalley” has been unveiled, capturing the gentle, lazy summer days when Moomintroll, Little My, Snufkin, and their friends let their imaginations wander. The new artwork is being used on a wide range of merchandise rolling out from July 2026, alongside special campaigns and events for “Moomin Day 2026.”
New Art Series: Daydreaming in Moominvalley
The “Daydreaming in Moominvalley” series depicts the Moominvalley residents relaxing and daydreaming about their own adventures and wishes. Bright, cheerful illustrations bring to life scenes of Moomintroll, Sniff, and others lost in thought under the summer sky.
Product Lineup
Mug (Daydreaming) – 2,200 yen. A mug featuring Moomintroll, Little My, and Snufkin enjoying their daydreams. The design wraps around the mug so the art can be enjoyed from any angle. It comes in a box decorated with Moominhouse patterns, making it a great gift.
Stick Bottle – 1,980 yen. A slim stainless steel bottle that fits easily into compact bags. With a 190ml capacity, it is convenient for commuting, school, or outings.
Long Can Badges – 605 yen each. Two horizontal-style can badges featuring character art from the series. Perfect as accents on bags or pouches.
Sticky Lunch Cloth – 1,760 yen each. A lunch wrap with heat- and cold-retention properties that sticks closed when wrapped. It fits any bento box size and is handy for daily lunches.
Boxed Hand-Stretched Miwa Somen Noodles (5 bundles, Moomin Day 2026) – 1,512 yen. A wooden box set of five colored somen noodles (orange/yuzu, yellow/kabosu, pink/sakura, blue, white) from the long-established maker Ikeri. The packaging features 2026-limited art, suitable for gifts or collecting.
Tarpaulin Flat Pouch (Daydreaming in Moominvalley) – 1,980 yen. Made of water- and stain-resistant tarpaulin material. Ideal for storing cosmetics or stationery, with a semi-transparent design.
2-Layer Acrylic Keyholder (Daydreaming in Moominvalley) – 1,485 yen. Combines acrylic parts of different thicknesses for a striking two-layer keyholder. Attach it to a bag or backpack for a summery accent.
Gauze Mini Bag – 2,750 yen each. A soft double-gauze mini bag depicting Moominvalley residents lost in thought. Reversible design with different patterns on each side.
3-Layer Gauze Handkerchief – 715 yen each. Triple-gauze handkerchiefs featuring the new art. Available in bright summer colors and more subdued tones, soft to the touch for everyday use.
Dreaming Moomin Brooch Pendant – 30,800 yen. A special brooch/pendant adorned with aquamarine (reminiscent of summer skies) and white topaz (like sunlight through clouds). It can be worn as a brooch or pendant, designed to encourage dreamy feelings and the courage to step forward.
Moomin Day 2026 Campaign
To celebrate Moomin Day, a campaign will offer an exclusive original tote bag featuring the main visual of “Moomin Day 2026.” Customers who meet purchase conditions at participating stores (including official Moomin shops and online stores) can receive the tote. Conditions vary by store.
Moomin Day Special Event 2026
On August 9, 2026, a special event will be held to commemorate Moomin Day. The theme this year is “We are braver together,” inspired by the story Comet in Moominvalley. The program includes a reading of a Moomin novel by Muroi Shizuka, a talk session by Minamura Rie, and a performance by Shiratori Emiko. A special shop and giveaway will also be available at the MOOMIN SHOP ONLINE.
It has also been announced that TBS announcer Minagawa Reina will appear at the event, hosting the talk corner with Minamura Rie about Comet in Moominvalley.
Attendees will receive an event-limited compact daily bag featuring art from Comet in Moominvalley. The bag fits A4 size and is packable (folds into an inner pocket). It is designed as a memento of the day. Note that this bag is a bonus for G-seat, S-seat, and A-seat ticket holders.
The “Daydreaming in Moominvalley” items are available at Moomin-themed spots and shops nationwide.
