The fifth volume of the popular visual book series Sculptors Lab is set to hit shelves this August, and this time the theme is fear. Titled Sculptors Lab 05, the book brings together some of the most talented sculptors working today, each exploring the question: What is horror, and how can it be expressed through form?
Participating artists include Takayuki Takeya, Masahito Oohata, Keisuke Yoneyama, Arya Hou, Keiki Fujimoto, Keisuke Aiso, MIDORO, Manrin, Entey Ryu, and many other top sculptors from Japan and abroad. The volume opens with a special interview with Motohiko Odani, one of Japan’s leading contemporary artists and sculptors, titled “The Fear Born from Imagination, the Awe Inhabited by Form.” The interview delves into the relationship between sculpture and fear, and the nature of the uncanny.
In addition, the book features a gallery of winning works from the 4th Sculptors Lab Sculpture Competition, along with a comprehensive collection of all submitted entries, shining a spotlight on the next generation of talent.
Sculptors Lab 05 is scheduled for release on August 8, 2026.
