Get ready, fantasy fans! Exciting news dropped straight from Anime Expo 2025 where **Drecom** held their very first panel. During this special event on Sunday, the team behind the upcoming anime adaptation of **Blade & Bastard** pulled back the curtain on some key details we’ve been waiting for.
The big reveals included the main voice cast bringing the characters to life, a cool new teaser visual (though we can’t show it here!), and a character promotional video, giving us a first taste of the anime’s look and feel.

The Journey From Novel to Anime
The **Blade & Bastard** anime is based on the action fantasy novel series. The original story is penned by **Kumo Kagyuu**, with stunning illustrations provided by **so-bin**, who is also known for their work on **Overlord**. The novels are published under the DRE Novels imprint and began serialization back in December 2022. The 5th volume of the novel was just released on June 10. For international readers, J-Novel Club is digitally simulpublishing the novel in English.
But that’s not all! The series also has a manga adaptation illustrated by **Makoto Fuugetsu**, which you can find on the DRE Comic website. The manga started its run in June 2023, and its sixth volume shipped out on June 20. Yen Press picked up the license for the manga adaptation in English in April 2024. They’ve already published the second volume as of April 1, and the third volume is slated for release later this year on November 25.
