
On Monday, publisher Ichijinsha announced a television anime adaptation of Banjou Azusa’s manga Koisuru (Otome) no Tsukurikata (also known as I Think I Turned My Childhood Friend Into a Girl). A commemorative illustration by the original creator was also revealed.
Banjou first started posting the manga on X (formerly Twitter) and Pixiv in December 2019 under the title Osananajimi (♂) wo Onnanoko ni Shiteshimatta Hanashi. Official serialization began on the Comic POOL web magazine in February 2020. Ichijinsha released the 11th volume in November 2025, and the 12th volume is set to go on sale this Thursday. The series has a cumulative 600,000 copies in circulation, including digital editions.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in September 2021 and published the tenth volume on March 24. The 11th volume is scheduled for November 17.
The manga was nominated for the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in the Web Manga division in 2020, 2021, and 2022. It also placed in the ‘Should be Anime’ category in MyAnimeList’s 2024 and 2025 editions of You Should Read This Manga.
Synopsis
Kenshirou Midou is a popular student with a secret: he has always loved cosmetics. Only his sisters and his childhood friend Hiura Mihate know about this hidden passion. Kenshirou asks Hiura to let him practice makeup on him, and when Hiura agrees, the transformation is stunning—from a plain, slender boy to a charming petite girl.
