The latest entry in the “POKÉTOON” anime series, Kameil to, Natsu no Tsuzuki (Kameil and the Summer’s Continuation), has been released on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. The short was produced by Studio Chromato and Studio Colorido, and it has already sparked a wave of enthusiastic reactions on X (formerly Twitter), with fans praising the adorable portrayal of the long-lived Kameil voiced by Kana Hanazawa.
The Pokémon franchise began with the 1996 Game Boy titles Pokémon Red and Green, which became a massive hit. Since then, it has expanded into trading card games, TV anime, and films, earning love from fans around the world.
“POKÉTOON” is a series of short anime that focuses on individual Pokémon, highlighting their unique appeal through original stories and diverse art styles. The new short tells the story of a boy named Rikuto, who visits an island at the end of summer to see his grandmother, and the unforgettable summer memories he shares with a long-lived Kameil.
On the official Pokémon X account, the video was introduced with a description noting that Rikuto meets a Kameil whose tail color differs from the Pokédex entry, and whose shell is covered in moss. It also reveals that this Kameil was a friend of Rikuto’s father since childhood, about 30 years earlier.
Kana Hanazawa, who voices Kameil, shared her excitement in a quote post: “I’m voicing Kameil! It’s a story I hope you’ll watch during summer vacation. Please enjoy!”
