The official website for the television anime adaptation of Shigeru Sagazaki’s light novel Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru (From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman) has revealed an additional pair of cast members and a fourth promotional video for the second season. The anime premiered on July 8 at 11:45 p.m. on TV Asahi, followed by AT-X and BS Asahi.

Voice actors Kensho Ono and Sumire Uesaka are joining the cast as Warren Flumvelk and Shueste Flumvelk, respectively.

Produced by Passione and Hayabusa Film, the first season aired for 12 episodes in Spring 2025. Amazon Prime Video is streaming the anime series worldwide.
Light Novel and Manga
Sagazaki began writing the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in November 2020. Square Enix began publishing the light novel under its SQEX Novel imprint in April 2021, with illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. The 11th volume was released on August 6.
A manga adaptation by Kazuki Satou began in Young Champion magazine in August 2021. Akita Shoten published the ninth volume on June 26.
English Releases
J-Novel Club licensed the light novel in English in October 2023. The tenth light novel volume went on sale on August 10. Yen Press licensed the manga in March 2024. The fifth manga volume was released on April 28, with the sixth volume scheduled to be released on September 22.
