New diorama-style acrylic stands inspired by memorable (and not-so-memorable) scenes from the Mobile Police Patlabor series are now available for pre-order. These four designs use a multi-layer construction to deliver a striking sense of depth, bringing the characters and backgrounds to life in a fresh way.
First launched with the early OVA series in 1988, Patlabor has expanded across Masami Yuuki’s manga, the TV anime, Mamoru Oshii’s theatrical films, and a novel series by scriptwriter Kazunori Ito. The franchise continues to captivate fans, with the new anime series Mobile Police Patlabor EZY, directed by mecha designer Yutaka Izubuchi, currently underway. Its second chapter, File 2, hit theaters on August 14, 2026.
Now, the series is offering diorama acrylic stands featuring newly drawn illustrations supervised by character designer Akemi Takada. The lineup includes Izumi Noa, Shinohara Asuma, Goto Kiichi, Nagumo Shinobu, Kanuka Clancy, Kumagami Takeo, as well as Utsumi, Badrinath Harchand, and Kurosaki, bringing together a broad cast of beloved characters.
Diorama Acrylic Stand A: Asuma, Noa, and Shirowani
This piece recreates a scene from the NEW OVA series episode 13, “Dungeon Again.” While the team originally wanted to include everyone from the episode, they found it structurally impossible, so Asuma and Noa are printed separately and attached to the background, adding an extra layer of depth. The characters measure 70 × 184 mm, while the background is 137 × 197 mm.
Diorama Acrylic Stand B: Goto and Nagumo
The two senior members of Special Vehicle Section 2 share a quiet moment around a potbelly stove. Goto is shown preparing to “return the favor” in his own way, while Nagumo watches over him. Their uniforms are based on the second theatrical film.
Diorama Acrylic Stand C: Kanuka and Kumagami
This diorama depicts the drinking scene from NEW OVA episode 9, “VS (Versus).” Thanks to the three-dimensional format, you can almost imagine what it would be like if Ingram Unit 2’s forward, Ota Isao, were also present – a fun thought for fans.
Diorama Acrylic Stand D: Badrinath, Utsumi, and Kurosaki
Featuring Utsumi from Shaft Enterprise Japan’s Tokyo branch Planning Section 7, his subordinate Kurosaki, and Griffon pilot Badrinath Harchand, this piece captures a brief moment among the three. The background is modeled after the Tsuchiura Research Institute, and like the Asuma & Noa stand, the Griffon is included as a separate part to enhance the depth.
Each stand is available individually or as a discounted ABCD set. All items are made to order, with pre-orders open until Sunday, September 13, 2026. Orders can be placed through the AA (AnotherAngle) official online shop and anime goods retailers.
The diorama acrylic stands are scheduled for release around late October 2026. Prices are 4,400 yen (tax included) for A, B, and C, 4,950 yen (tax included) for D, and 16,500 yen (tax included) for the ABCD set.
