Summer anime Yani Neko is taking a break from its regular episode on August 27, 2026 (Thursday) to air a special program titled “Today Only Clean Yani Neko Special.” The show will feature Yuko Natsuyoshi (as Yani Neko) and Toru Inada (as the Landlord), with Tenshin Handai as MC.
Based on the manga by Nyan Nyan Factory serialized in Kodansha’s Young Magazine, Yani Neko is a comedy about unlikable but somehow endearing trashy cats living their daily lives covered in cigarette smoke. In a world where humans and beastmen coexist, the beastman Yani Neko smokes and lazes around, with no money, no life skills, and no sense of decency. He’s dirty, lazy, and a total scumbag, but he still manages to live a somewhat fulfilling life. The manga became a social media sensation, and the TV anime began airing in July 2026.
The special program will air on August 27 at 24:30 (i.e., 12:30 a.m. JST). Natsuyoshi and Inada will look back on previous episodes and talk about the series. In the latter half, they’ll take on a quiz corner titled “Is This True? Or False? Yani Neko Episode Talk,” offering plenty of behind-the-scenes stories.
Will this truly be a “clean” special? Episode 9 is scheduled to air on September 3 (Thursday).
