Tamagotchi is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026 with a brand-new way to raise your digital pet: the Tamagotchi ring, the series’ first finger-worn device. Pre-orders are now open on Premium Bandai as of August 27, 2026 (Thursday).
A Tiny Device with a Big History
The original Tamagotchi launched on November 23, 1996, as a “portable digital pet” and became a nationwide phenomenon. Since then, the series has expanded with new features and models, shipping over 130 million units worldwide as of March 2026. The latest model, Tamagotchi Paradise, arrived in July 2025, and the franchise continues to be loved at home and abroad.
Now, the 39th main-series model, Tamagotchi ring, measures just 28mm in length—about half the size of the original Tamagotchi (approx. 50mm). Despite its compact size, it features a color LCD (the smallest in the series at 0.56 inches) that has been used since 2008.
The charging section introduces a structure never before seen in the Tamagotchi series, significantly reducing internal space. By shortening the USB connector’s protection circuit, the device achieves its smallest size yet. With only 64 parts (52 electronic components and 12 plastic parts), it is the fewest among all color LCD devices released to date.

The iconic egg-shaped design, LCD screen, and three buttons remain unchanged from the original, and the side buttons allow for easy operation. The device also comes with a dedicated charging case, another first for the series.

30 Classic Characters Return
To mark the 30th anniversary, 30 beloved Tamagotchi characters from across the decades are gathered. You can raise familiar faces like Mametchi and Kuchipatchi from the “first generation,” Memetchi and Furawatchi from the “communication era,” and Lovelitchi and Melodytchi from the “color era.” Depending on how you care for them, they may even evolve into secret forms.
