Shaft’s official X account posted, “Gekijouban Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten is now showing!” along with an illustration of Madoka Kaname by character designer Taniguchi Junichirou. The post drew comments like “Finally, this day has come!”, “I’ve been waiting for this!”, “This is what I’ve been wanting to see!”, and “It’s finally here!” Many also praised Taniguchi’s artwork.
Voice Cast Shares Their Excitement
Voice actress Asumi Kana, who plays Nagisa Momoe, posted on X: “I’m getting so, so nervous! Some of you are already watching the earliest screenings, right? So nervous!”
Kitamura Eri, the voice of Miki Sayaka, wrote: “Congratulations on the release of Walpurgis no Kaiten! I hope everyone enjoys it. I even painted my nails in Sayaka’s colors.”

A New Chapter in the Madoka Saga
The original Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica TV series aired in 2011, following middle school student Madoka Kaname as she encounters a mysterious creature and becomes involved in the world of magical girls. The series was followed by two compilation films in 2012 and the original sequel Rebellion in 2013. Now, Walpurgis no Kaiten serves as both a sequel to Rebellion and a new beginning for the story.
Spoiler Prevention and Fassets Integration
With the film now in theaters, the official team has also issued a spoiler warning, asking fans to refrain from posting spoilers until September 12, 2026, at 0:00.
