Kanata Kara TV Anime Premieres October 4 with New Cast and Theme Song Details

The TV anime adaptation of Hikawa Kyouko’s beloved fantasy manga Kanata Kara has confirmed its long-awaited premiere date: October 4, 2026. Alongside the announcement, the production team has unveiled a fresh key visual, a brand-new promotional video, four additional cast members, and the artists behind the opening and ending theme songs.

The Timeless Fantasy Manga

Kanata Kara originally ran in Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine from the November 1991 issue through the December 2002 issue, a span of roughly twelve years. The series has sold over 4 million copies in total and received the Seiun Award, an honor given to the year’s most outstanding science fiction works. It stands as a true masterpiece in the isekai fantasy genre.

The story follows ordinary high school girl Noriko Tachiki, who is drawn into an unfamiliar other world after a mysterious dream. Lost and unable to communicate in a place where neither language nor common sense apply, she is rescued by Izark, a lone traveling warrior. Despite their differences, a small bond begins to grow between them—one that will soon be swept into an epic fate.

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the manga’s serialization, the full TV anime adaptation is now in production, with the original author Hikawa Kyouko supervising the script. The newly released key visual and promotional video offer a first look at the series’ world and its characters in motion.

New Cast Members Announced

Four additional voice actors have been revealed. Kimiko Saito voices Gaya, Tadashi Miyazawa voices Goriya, Taisuke Nakano voices Agor, and Miku Ito voices Gina Haas.

Theme Songs Revealed

The opening theme song will be “Toukou” by Genin wa Jibun ni Aru., a new-interpretation idol group at the forefront of Japanese culture. The ending theme, “Hikari no Soba de,” will be performed by the guitarless four-piece band Nanashi no Tarou, known for their fresh blend of tradition and innovation.

Celebratory Illustrations from Manga Artists

To mark the anime adaptation, six manga artists associated with the original magazine LaLa have contributed special support illustrations and messages. The first batch includes Shinobu Amano, Meka Tanaka, Akiharu Fuyunatsu, Bisco Hatori, Mikase Hayashi, and Kiiro Yumi.

In celebration of the key visual and PV release, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the anime is hosting a giveaway. Followers who repost a designated post will have a chance to win one of five key visual posters.

Cast and Artist Comments

Kimiko Saito (Gaya) expressed her delight at joining the series, calling it a privilege to be part of a work she never imagined being animated. She described Gaya as a strong, caring, and motherly figure, and praised Noriko, voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa, as absolutely adorable.

Tadashi Miyazawa (Goriya) said he looks forward to voicing the “justice” of his character, a diviner who serves under Ratchev. He promised to make the epic otherworldly story an exciting ride for both longtime fans and newcomers.

Taisuke Nakano (Agor) noted the challenge of portraying a strong yet kind man, especially the way Agor calls out to his daughter Gina. He revealed that he paid particular attention to the warmth in his voice during recording, and urged fans to listen closely to the various ways Agor says her name.

Miku Ito (Gina Haas) described her character as a perceptive and intelligent girl who, despite being visually impaired, possesses divination powers. She noted that Gina often displays a mature side, but also shows her childish charm when with her father, making her a well-rounded and endearing presence.

Yoshizawa Youto from Genin wa Jibun ni Aru. shared his excitement about providing the opening theme for a series so deeply beloved over the years. He said the song, titled “Toukou,” enriches the world of Noriko and Izark, and encouraged fans to listen to it repeatedly alongside the anime.

Nanashi no Tarou expressed a personal connection to the story, admitting that they had not known Kanata Kara until receiving the offer. After reading the manga for songwriting, they became completely absorbed in the characters and the weighty drama. The band member added that they are eagerly awaiting the broadcast, having joined the ranks of fans.
