Japan’s First AI Video Creator Magazine ‘AI Douga Saizensen’ to Launch October 6

Asuka Publishing, the publisher behind the short drama magazine TateDora Saizensen, has announced the release of AI Douga Saizensen (AI Video Frontline), Japan’s first magazine dedicated to AI video creators. The magazine will hit bookstores nationwide on October 6, 2026.

Supervised by Shirai Akihiko, a leading researcher in generative AI and representative of AICU Japan, the magazine features exclusive interviews with 12 key figures and companies at the forefront of the AI video industry. From the accelerating global expansion of AI video to the full-scale entry of TV and commercial production, the publication aims to shed light on the present and future of AI entertainment.

Industry Leaders and Creators Take the Stage

Among the interviewees are KLab, which has announced production of the AI anime film The Celebrity Secret, and film director Endo Kumiko, whose feature Matilda: The Devil’s Gene—created entirely with AI for visuals, audio, and acting—has earned international acclaim. Also featured are the Nippon Columbia Group, organizer of the AI video contest “COLOTEK” with a total prize pool of 10 million yen, and L&LV Victor, which is developing the participatory IP IDOL:UnderCode linking anime, VTubers, and games.

Popular AI video creators Raimu Light, Matsumaru Suigo, Hirata Marika, Kakuni Seimaru, and Imoto appear in the magazine, along with AI video CM production company Blue R and AI anime studio KM AI Anime Studio. The issue also includes an article by writer and game creator Watanabe Koji exploring the potential of AI interactive drama.

From Production Techniques to Legal Pitfalls

Through interviews with top AI video creators and companies, the magazine covers the latest production methods, speed, cost, benefits, challenges, and ways to avoid legal issues. It also includes explanations of the newest AI tools, making it a practical entry guide for beginners looking to try AI video creation.

For the critical legal side, the magazine conducted thorough reporting with a law firm that participates in the Ministry of Justice’s AI-related legislation committee. Lawyer Yabuki Kengo of Takagi-cho Law Office provides a detailed explanation of “copyright considerations for generative AI videos,” guiding readers on what is permissible and what is not from a legal standpoint.

The publication is not intended as a one-off special issue. It is positioned as a historical record for a future where AI video becomes commonplace, and the publisher plans to grow it into a regular periodical.
