The Dark Butler’s Legacy

Authored by Toboso Yana and serialized in “Gekkan G Fantasy,” Kuroshitsuji (which can be translated as “Black Butler”) plunges readers into 19th-century Britain. The story masterfully portrays the clandestine activities of Sebastian Michaelis, the impeccably skilled butler of the prestigious Phantomhive family, and his young master, Ciel Phantomhive. Tasked as the “Queen’s Watchdog,” they diligently undertake the more unsavory tasks lurking in the shadows of society.

From Manga to Screen and Stage

The dark fantasy world of Kuroshitsuji first leaped onto screens with its anime adaptation in 2008, swiftly expanding into a beloved series. Following its initial run, the saga continued with Kuroshitsuji II in 2010 and Kuroshitsuji Book of Circus in 2014. The narrative further unraveled with the OVA Kuroshitsuji Book of Murder and the cinematic adventure Kuroshitsuji Book of the Atlantic. More recently, fans enjoyed Kuroshitsuji -Kishukugakkou-hen-, which aired from April 2024. The latest installment, TV anime Kuroshitsuji -Midori no Majo-hen-, began its broadcast in April 2025, promising more thrilling escapades.
