Overview
Following the worldwide hit TV anime Chainsaw Man, the theatrical film Chainsaw Man – Reze Arc has been a major success, surpassing 29.7 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue as of June 19, 2026. The film adapts the popular “Reze Arc” from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s original manga, directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and produced by animation studio MAPPA with outstanding quality.
Synopsis
Denji (Kikunosuke Toya), a boy with a demon heart, works as a devil hunter for the Public Safety Devil Hunters Special Division 4. Excited about a date with his idol Makima (Tomori Kusunoki), he gets caught in a sudden rainstorm. While taking shelter, he happens to meet a girl named Reze (Reina Ueda). She works at a nearby café and smiles warmly at Denji; the two quickly grow close. This encounter marks the beginning of a shift in Denji’s everyday life.

Characters
Denji
A boy who belongs to the Public Safety Devil Hunters Special Division 4 as a devil hunter. He used to live in poverty as a solo devil hunter but died after being betrayed by his employer. He was revived as Chainsaw Man through a contract with Pochita, the Chainsaw Devil, and was scouted by Makima to join the division. Honest about his desires, he likes Makima, who was the first to be kind to him, but he also starts to become interested in Reze after they meet in the rain.
Pochita
The Chainsaw Devil. He lived happily with Denji despite their poor circumstances. When Denji was betrayed, he gave his heart to Denji and became a part of his body.
Makima
A woman who manages the Public Safety Devil Hunters Special Division 4 and is Denji’s superior. As a devil hunter directly under the Chief Cabinet Secretary, she is so powerful that even experienced devil hunters are not permitted to know which devils she has contracted with. She met Denji during a mission to defeat the Zombie Devil and scouted him into the organization.
Early on Hayakawa
A member of the Special Division 4 under Makima, and Denji’s senior by three years. He harbors intense hatred toward the Gun Devil and became a devil hunter for that reason. He holds contracts with the Curse Devil and the Future Devil.
Power
The Blood Fiend and a member of the Special Division 4. As a Fiend—a demon inhabiting a human corpse—she would normally be a target for extermination, but because she possesses relatively high intelligence and rationality among Fiends, Makima has her undergo training as a devil hunter. She is paired with Denji, but she is selfish and prone to running wild. Her cat, Nyako, is her only friend.
Kobeni
A timid newcomer working in Special Division 4. Though mentally fragile, she has high physical abilities. The demon she has a contract with is unknown.
Beam
The Shark Fiend. A member of Special Division 4 capable of swimming through walls, floors, and any surface. He can also take on a demon form for short periods, and is highly energetic.
Violence Fiend
A member of Special Division 4. Normally, Fiends become weaker than their demon forms, but this one is so strong that it wears a toxic mask at all times to suppress its power. The mask must never be removed under any circumstances.
Angel Devil
A member of Special Division 4. This special demon holds no hostility toward humans, but anyone who touches him directly has their lifespan drained.

Captain of Public Safety Devil Hunters Special Division 4.
Vice Captain
Vice captain of Public Safety Devil Hunters Special Division 2.
Nomo
A member of Special Division 2 and Aki Hayakawa’s senior.
Mystery Man
