About Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Aarya-san
Roshidere, or Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Aarya-san, is a beloved romantic comedy series based on the light novel by Sansan SUN, published under KADOKAWA’s Sneaker Bunko imprint. It has also received a manga adaptation serialized in “Magazine Pocket”. The series boasts an impressive global circulation of over 5.5 million copies, including digital editions.
The story unfolds around the beautiful high school student Aarya, or Arisa Mikhailovna Kujou, who occasionally mutters endearing, `dere`-filled phrases in Russian, convinced that no one understands her. Little does she know that her classmate, Kuse Masachika, secretly possesses native-level Russian listening skills, allowing him to fully appreciate her cute, bashful remarks. Their heartwarming, often chuckle-inducing, romantic journey is at the core of this series.
The TV anime adaptation, which continued with the original voice cast from the light novel’s promotional videos—Amasaki Kouhei as Kuse Masachika and Uesaka Sumire as Aarya-san—aired its first season from July to September 2024.
