A new collaboration café based on the animated film Kitaro Tanjou: Gegege no Nazo is set to open under the banner of and GALLERY. Titled the “Kitaro Tanjou: Gegege no Nazo × and GALLERY Collaboration Café,” the event will feature original illustrations themed around a “Moonlight Soirée Café” (Tsukiakari no Yakai Cafe).
The café will run from October 3 to October 31, 2026, at and GALLERY stores in Yurakucho, Namba 2, and Nagoya 1.
The film Kitaro Tanjou: Gegege no Nazo originally hit theaters in November 2023 as part of the centennial celebration of manga artist Mizuki Shigeru’s birth. It explores the mystery behind Kitaro’s birth, depicting the encounter between the future Eye-Patch Old Man and Mizuki, and the fateful battle faced by their fathers. The movie earned high praise, including the Excellent Animation of the Year award at the 47th Japan Academy Prize, and later received an enhanced version titled Shinsei-ban (True Life Edition) with upgraded visuals and audio.
Menu Highlights
The café’s menu is inspired by the characters and the Moonlight Soirée theme, offering dishes and drinks perfect for a quiet, sparkling autumn night. Food items include Kitaro’s Father’s Melon Soda Punch, Mizuki’s Mushroom and Squid Ink Pasta, and the Moonlight Soirée Tsukimi Hamburger Plate. For drinks, guests can choose from Mizuki’s Non-Alcoholic Irish Coffee, Kitaro’s Father’s Pear and Yuzu Blue-White Drink, and the Moonlight Soirée Butterfly Pea Tea.

Advance seat reservations are now open via the official special site. As a reservation benefit, guests will receive a random postcard from a set of 6 designs. A reservation fee of 550 yen (tax included) per person applies.
