Tougen Anki: Nikkou Kegon Falls Arc Reveals Episode 1 ‘Training Begins’ Preview

The fall anime Tougen Anki: Nikkou Kegon Falls Arc has released the synopsis and advance scene cuts for Episode 1, "Training Begins," which begins airing Friday, October 2, 2026.

Tougen Anki is a new-generation dark hero oni tale based on Urushihara Yura’s manga, which has surpassed 6.5 million copies in circulation and is serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion. Inspired by the well-known Japanese folk tale Momotarou, it depicts a conflict between those who inherit the blood of oni and those who inherit the blood of Momotarou.

The anime is directed by Nonaka Ato, with animation production by Studio Hibari. Ura Kazuki voices protagonist Ichinose Shiki, Kamiya Hiroshi plays Mudano Mujin, an instructor at the Rasetsu Academy attended by Shiki and his classmates, and Nishiyama Koutarou appears as Shiki’s classmate Kougouzaki Jin.

The Nikkou Kegon Falls Arc follows the story that aired as the Kyouto Arc & Nerima Arc from July to December 2025. After overcoming fierce battles in Kyouto and Nerima, Shiki and the other Rasetsu Academy students had been growing little by little. However, Yagura Ikari rebels against Mudano, who teaches the importance of comrades, and sympathizes with the "complete eradication of Momotarou" advocated by Kikokutai commander Todoroki Hayate, leaving Rasetsu behind.

Kikokutai’s beliefs mean that non-combatants are also targets for killing. Realizing this, Shiki pursues Yagura together with Mudano and the students. Their destination is Nikkou. Kegon Falls had stopped some time before, and at the site where a giant research facility had been built, terrifying experiments were being conducted.

Episode 1 "Training Begins" Synopsis
