The new Uchuu Senkan Yamato project—rebooting the 1974 anime series—began with the Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 original video anime series that ran in 2012–2013. The Hoshimeguru Hakobune side story movie opened in December 2014.

The remake project continued with Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi, which released in two parts theatrically in October 2021 and February 2022.
The latest installment in the franchise, Yamato yo, Towa ni: Rebel 3199, debuted in July 2024 and served as a sequel to Aratanaru Tabidachi.
