The Origin Story of “Luoxiaohei Senki” to Be Adapted as TV Anime, Premiering in October! Sakura Ayane, Han Megumi, Kitou Akari Join Cast
The TV anime Luoxiaohei Senki, a Japanese dub of the original web anime series depicting the origin story of Luoxiaohei Senki, is scheduled to begin broadcasting in October 2025. Alongside this announcement, a new Japanese key visual and a teaser PV have been unveiled. It has also been revealed that the voice cast for the dubbed version will include Hanazawa Kana and Miyano Mamoru, joined by Sakura Ayane, Han Megumi, and Kitou Akari.
Luoxiaohei Senki is an anime created by Chinese animation director Moutou and Kanbokushunka (HMCH) Studio. Since its web anime series debut on video sites in March 2011, its popularity has continuously grown, establishing it as a representative work of Chinese animation. Subsequently, a theatrical film was produced, achieving an exceptional box office hit in China, grossing 315 million RMB (approximately 4.9 billion JPY). In September 2019, a subtitled version was released in Japan on a smaller scale, receiving widespread praise from anime fans and industry professionals immediately after its screening.
Then, in November 2020, a Japanese dubbed version, produced and distributed by Aniplex, was released nationwide. Hanazawa Kana took on the role of the black cat spirit Xiaohei, while Miyano Mamoru voiced the powerful enforcer Mugen. This dubbed version surpassed 520 million JPY in box office revenue and enjoyed a long theatrical run lasting over half a year. On November 7, 2025, the highly anticipated sequel, Luoxiaohei Senki 2: Bokura ga Nozomu Mirai, will be released simultaneously in both Japanese dubbed and subtitled versions.
The TV anime Luoxiaohei Senki, set to broadcast from October, is the Japanese dubbed version of the web anime series that serves as the “origin of Luoxiaohei Senki.” The story begins when Xiaohei, a severely injured black cat spirit, finds himself lost and is rescued by a girl named Luoxiaobai. Xiaohei is named “Luoxiaohei” after the girl’s family name, and they start living together. This encounter between the girl and the black cat sparks a variety of “mysterious” events.
In addition to Hanazawa Kana as Xiaohei and Miyano Mamoru as Mugen, the cast will also feature Sakura Ayane, Han Megumi, and Kitou Akari. Sakura Ayane will voice Luoxiaobai, the girl who takes in Xiaohei and lives with him. Han Megumi will play Agen, Luoxiaobai’s cousin residing in the countryside, and Kitou Akari will portray Shanxin, Luoxiaobai’s best friend who deeply loves subculture.
