Story and Highlights

Juou Bushin Dandevain is an original robot anime about Dandevain, a combining robot that saved the world 20 years earlier. When the toy company Kyasuga struggles and a new enemy appears, Dandevain returns. Shijima Gekiba, the grandson of Kyasuga’s president, becomes its pilot.

Synopsis

Twenty years after the giant robot Dandevain defeated the mysterious enemy Apos Doll, the former guardian is treated as little more than a toy. Kyasuga, the toy maker that built a business on Dandevain merchandise, has relied too heavily on the brand and is now in financial trouble. As president Shijima Genjuurou hopes for a comeback, Apos Doll reappears in Tokyo through the actions of three mysterious sisters. Shijima Gekiba, a high school student whose only standout trait is his good looks, is invited by his uncle Kuroiwa Yuusaku, a former main pilot, and soon finds himself in Dandevain’s cockpit.

In Episode 2, ‘Kao dake no Eesu’ (The Ace with Only a Face), Genjuurou sees potential in Dande Ace as a sellable toy and renews his drive to rebuild the company. Meanwhile, Gekiba, caught up in the battle, is suddenly dumped by his girlfriend Kusumi Akane. As he tries to win her back while hiding his identity, Apos Doll appears again.

Highlights

The main appeal is the power of Dande Ace combining with three Devain Beasts through Juushin Gattai to form a super robot, paired with the realistic theme of rebuilding a toy company. The battle to protect the world is directly tied to whether the robot can become a hit toy, a concept fitting for the Gattai Shin Series, which is designed for simultaneous toy development. Another highlight is Gekiba’s growth as a pilot while dealing with very ordinary high school problems, as love and battle refuse to wait for him.

Director Cao Yi leads the series, with Inoue Toshiki handling series composition and scripts. Mechanical design is by An (GOD BRAVE STUDIO), and animation production is by Liden Films and Kayac Animation. The opening theme is Nishikawa Takanori’s ‘Zankyou ≠ Blaster,’ and the ending theme is DayRe’s ‘Mikansei Ordinary.’
