The third season of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto has released the synopsis and advance scene cuts for Episode 51, ‘Pan ga Nakereba’ (‘If There Is No Bread’). The episode is scheduled to begin airing on Friday, October 16, 2026, on NTV’s 30-affiliate FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT block.
About the Series
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto is a mystery-solving entertainment series based on Hyuuga Natsu’s light novels, published by Imagica Infos under its Hero Bunko label. The series has surpassed 57 million copies in circulation worldwide. Set in the rear palace, it follows Maomao, a young poison tester who solves a series of difficult cases. The story has drawn broad acclaim for Maomao’s exhilarating heroine qualities, its full-fledged mysteries, and the human drama woven through an exotic worldview, earning a wide audience at home and abroad.
After the first season, broadcast from October 2023 to March 2024, and the second season, broadcast from January to July 2025, Season 3 shifts the story’s stage from the rear palace to the city streets. The season introduces a mysterious shrine maiden who unsettles people with omens of a disaster bearing down on the nation, as well as Jinshi’s responsibilities as an imperial younger brother. New trials await Maomao and Jinshi.
Directed by Fudesaka Akinori and animated by OLM, the series features Yuuki Aoi as Maomao and Ootsuka Takeo as Jinshi. The cast also includes Konishi Katsuyuki as Gaoshun, Tachibana Tatsumaru as Bashan, Toyonaga Toshiyuki as Rahan, Uchiyama Kouki as Rikuson, Fujiwara Natsumi as Chou U, Ueda Reina as Byakuyan, and Shimamoto Sumi as the narrator.
Episode 51 Synopsis
Early one morning, a man in dirty clothes visits the pharmacy. He begs Maomao to examine his sick daughter, and although reluctant, Maomao sets out to treat her.
Accompanied by Ukyou, the head of the men at Ryokuseikan, Maomao is led to a shabby house in an alley near the pleasure district. Inside, an older sister sits slumped and without strength, while her younger sister looks utterly exhausted. When Maomao hears their story, she learns that the older sister gave her younger sister a baked sweet that she had received as alms from a beggar.
Maomao feels something is off: the sweet is far too luxurious for food given as charity to a beggar.
Episode 51 of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Season 3, ‘Pan ga Nakereba,’ will air from Friday, October 16 on NTV’s 30-affiliate FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT block as a nationwide simultaneous broadcast.

The season is split into two cours: the first in October 2026 and the second in April 2027.
