Animate Lashic Fukuoka Tenjin opened on Saturday, October 24, 2026, on the 8th floor of Lashic Fukuoka Tenjin in Tenjin, Fukuoka. The new store is the largest Animate in Kyushu, and its grand opening ceremony featured voice actor Taniyama Kishou, who plays Nakahara Chuuya in Bungou Stray Dogs.
Alongside standard character goods, comics, CDs, Blu-rays and other items, the store includes several areas making their first Kyushu appearance, such as Animate Gratte, Space A la mode, Space Galleria FUKUOKA and CyConveni. Its sales floor is the largest of any Animate in Kyushu.
At Space Galleria FUKUOKA, the Bungou Stray Dogs ART & DESIGN EXHIBITION will begin on Friday, November 20, and the store is running multiple Bungou Stray Dogs collaboration projects to mark the event. Taniyama appeared at the opening-day ceremony held in the same space.
The ceremony began with MC Koide Miso, a Fukuoka-based creator and performer active in scripting, direction, acting and other fields. Space Galleria FUKUOKA was filled with reporters from Fukuoka and elsewhere as well as many people who had been waiting for the opening.
Store manager Kaneda Ryou was called to the stage, followed by special guest Taniyama Kishou, the vocalist of GRANRODEO and the voice of Nakahara Chuuya in Bungou Stray Dogs. Taniyama entered to loud applause and spoke about Fukuoka, a city familiar to him as a native of neighboring Yamaguchi Prefecture. He said he often visits Fukuoka for concerts and events, and the conversation turned to his favorite food, with Fukuoka bringing delicious cuisine to mind. His memories of Animate stores in Kyushu and across Japan drew smiles from the audience.
Kaneda expressed his gratitude and introduced the store’s renewal highlights. He noted that it offers not only regular sales floors but also a cafe, exhibition spaces and areas making their first Kyushu appearance, with its status as the largest Animate in Kyushu by sales floor area being a key point. Taniyama, who had seen the store, also remarked on its size.
Taniyama signed a standee of Nakahara Chuuya on the spot; the standee is one of the Bungou Stray Dogs collaboration displays at Space Galleria FUKUOKA. It will be displayed in the store until Monday, November 23 (a holiday).
Near the end of the talk, Taniyama delivered an opening congratulatory message in Nakahara Chuuya’s voice: “A new Animate has opened in Fukuoka, and I think Fukuoka’s anime scene and anime fans can appeal to the whole country. I would like to visit Fukuoka—both privately and for work—in a standout outfit on a day like today. Please come every day from now on and enjoy a fun Animate life. Thank you very much for today!”
The venue then celebrated the launch of Animate Lashic Fukuoka Tenjin. Iwataya Mitsukoshi representative director, president and executive officer Sanaka Kitarou, and Animate representative director and CEO Togawa Akihiro also took the stage.
For the ceremony, Nakahara Chuuya-inspired crackers were prepared. Taniyama wore black gloves, one of Nakahara Chuuya’s trademarks, and was ready. At the MC’s signal, the celebratory crackers sounded and the venue erupted in cheers.
Animate Lashic Fukuoka Tenjin is now open as a store that aims to serve as a bridge between works and fans, offering an Animate entertainment experience to enjoy with every visit.
