First airing as a TV anime in 2012, Kuroko no Basuke (also known as Kuroko’s Basketball) is based on the popular basketball manga by Fujimaki Tadatoshi, which ran in “Weekly Shounen Jump” from 2009 to 2014.
The story centers around the five basketball prodigies of the powerhouse Teikou Junior High, famously known as the “Kiseki no Sedai.” However, rumor has it there was a sixth phantom member (sixth man) among them. When a new school year begins, Kuroko Tetsuya joins the Seirin High School basketball club. He is none other than that phantom sixth man from Teikou Junior High, specializing in passing the ball unnoticed by his opponents.
The captivating story of protagonist Kuroko Tetsuya and his unique companion, Kagami Taiga, along with their diverse teammates, battling against rival schools, garnered immense popularity. The TV anime aired its first season in April 2012, continuing for three seasons. Following its success, Gekijouban Kuroko no Basuke LAST GAME (Kuroko’s Basketball The Movie: LAST GAME), based on “Kuroko no Basuke EXTRA GAME” from “Shounen Jump NEXT!!”, was released in 2017.
