About the Blue Lock Series

The original manga for Blue Lock is a highly acclaimed soccer series that secured the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the Shounen category. The captivating story is penned by Muneyuki Kaneshiro, with dynamic artwork by Yuusuke Nomura, and it’s currently serialized in “Weekly Shounen Magazine.”

The plot centers around the “Blue Lock” (Blue Prison) project, a revolutionary initiative launched by the Japan Football Union. Its ambitious goal is to unearth and train the ultimate striker who can lead Japan to World Cup glory. Three hundred talented high school students, all specializing as forwards, are gathered in this enigmatic facility. The series grippingly portrays their intense selection process, a ruthless battle for survival where only the strongest egoists can emerge as the world’s number one striker.

The TV anime adaptation initially graced screens with two consecutive cours starting in October 2022. Building on its success, Gekijouban Blue Lock -EPISODE Nagi- (Movie Blue Lock -EPISODE Nagi-) premiered in April 2024, offering fans a deeper dive into the world of this popular franchise. Most recently, the second season of the TV anime captivated audiences with 14 new episodes, which began airing from October 5th.
