Three months after the battle with the demon emperor Ramaga, the world of Yoroi Shinden Samurai Trooper faces a new threat: the Tenkai Realm, which seeks to reset Earth by destroying both the human and demon worlds. To make matters worse, former Samurai Trooper Oda Ryusei has joined their ranks. Meanwhile, the Ten Braves have allied with the Samurai Troopers, but tensions remain high. Episode 16 picks up from last week’s cliffhanger, where Shion summoned Ryusei for a secret meeting, and delivers a rollercoaster of emotions.

Ten Braves: Reluctant Helpers Win Over Fans
The Ten Braves agreed to assist the Samurai Troopers, but they were not ready to become allies, still haunted by the fall of their comrades. They lacked a reason to fight. When the Samurai Troopers urged them to train, Kamamosuke famously replied, “Justice? What’s that? Is it tasty?” Fans on X immediately latched onto the line, with comments like “Justice? What’s that? Is it tasty?” and “I really love Kamamosuke-san!”
Shion suggested the Ten Braves help the DST (Defense Special Task Force) with evacuation duties. Dressed in DST jackets, the Braves charmed viewers. Fans noted, “The name group is so cute!” “Sasuke is too cute, I’m dying (lol),” and “Isa-chan, the jacket is cute (lol).” They also praised the Braves’ efforts: “The Ten Braves are all working hard… So admirable.”
Shion’s idea came from his own experience in a hero show he reluctantly participated in, where seeing the people he needed to protect gave him a reason to fight. He hoped the Braves would feel the same. A touching scene where a child gives the Braves a protective origami shuriken moved fans: “Origami shuriken. Turmoil in the Tenkai Realm: Inmei’s Betrayal
Meanwhile, the Tenkai Realm was not united. Inmei, who was ordered by Sagume to destroy the Haotei, instead worked to awaken the “True Haotei” — a cursed armor that absorbs life energy. During the final battle, the Haotei began to turn black as it absorbed energy, transforming into the cursed form. This black Haotei immediately reminded fans of the OVA series Kikoutei Densetsu, where a black Kikoutei appeared in Africa and drove the Samurai Troopers into a battle frenzy until they purified it with their hearts. While Yoroi Shinden is set in a timeline that may not include the OVA, viewers still reacted: “True Haotei… Black?” “Black Haotei…” They watched closely as Inmei’s actions seemed to betray the Tenkai Realm.
Ryusei’s Shocking Move
All eyes were on Ryusei. After the secret meeting with Shion ended in a rift, fans were anxious: “Ryusei-nii, he’ll definitely come back, right?” “What is Ryusei-san thinking? He’ll come back eventually, won’t he?” When Shion and Ryusei clashed in the final battle, viewers held their breath.
Shion shouted, “Remember! Reaching out to someone suffering in front of you… Isn’t that what we’ve been fighting for all along?” Fans were moved: “I never thought Shion-san would be the most passionate in the first cour.” “Shion only gets this heated when it comes to Ryusei… Please, bring back your precious friend.”
Ryusei retorted, “What do you know!” hinting at hidden motives. He had been following Inmei while also obeying Sagume, possibly tasked with investigating Inmei’s independent actions. In a stunning twist, Ryusei stabbed Inmei from behind as Inmei tried to awaken the True Haotei!
Fans erupted: “I believed in you, Ryusei-san!” “I knew it, Ryusei!” “Best development!” But some worried: “This probably won’t end with Ryusei-san coming back and everything being fine.”
The episode ended with Ryusei’s blade still in Inmei, his true intentions still unclear. Viewers were left on edge: “Nice! Nice!! Ryusei-san!! And this week went by in a second…!!” “Are you going to make us spend another week with our emotions in turmoil, Ryusei fans?!” “They always stop at the most frustrating part!”
