Kinnikuman: Can You Take Kinnikuman Soldier’s Move!? New Exhibits One After Another for Museum’s 1st Anniversary!

The “Kinnikuman Myuujiamu in Numazu,” which opened in 2024 as the first permanent exhibition space in Japan dedicated to the manga Kinnikuman, celebrated its first anniversary on April 29, 2025. To commemorate this milestone, new exhibits allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the world of the series have been unveiled, including striking Toushindai Figyua and Kyodai Komikku displays.

Kinnikuman is a professional wrestling and fighting manga that has captivated a vast fanbase since it first began serialization in “Shuukan Shounen Jump” in 1979. It is the debut work of Yudetamago, the collaborative duo consisting of writer Shimada Takashi and artist Nakai Yoshinori.

The story follows Kinniku Suguru, also known as Kinnikuman, a superhuman being who transcends normal humans and resides in Japan. Together with his fellow Seigi Choujin, he battles against formidable foes in the wrestling ring. The series continues its run concurrently in “Shuukan Playboy” and “Shuu Pure News.” Furthermore, a new anime series, 『Kinnikuman』Kanpeki Choujin Shiso (Paafekuto Orijin) Hen, premiered in July 2024.

The “Kinnikuman Myuujiamu in Numazu,” the first permanent exhibition of its kind in Japan, is fittingly located in Numazu-shi, Shizuoka-ken. This city serves as the gateway to Fuji-san, which was the setting for Tournament Mountain depicted in the Yume no Choujin Taggu Hen. The museum aims to convey the themes of friendship and the glorious legacy depicted in Kinnikuman, offering a moving experience filled with surprises around every corner to keep visitors engaged.

Among the newly revealed exhibits is the Toushindai Figyua “Ataru Ban Massuru Supaaku Ten” (Life-size Figure “Ataru Version Muscle Spark Ten”). This impressive figure brings one of the Kinniku-zoku’s Sandai Ougi (three great secret techniques) to life in stunning detail at actual size. The Waza itself is composed of two parts: “Ten” (Heaven) performed in the air, and “Chi” (Earth) which culminates with impact on the ground. The exhibit specifically portrays the “Ten” portion, the mid-air clutch Waza. It’s known as the most difficult of the Sandai Ougi to master, so much so that Kinnikuman no Chichi・Kinniku Mayumi abandoned his attempts to learn it. The Waza also puts a significant burden on the user, making repeated use impossible.

Visitors to the museum have the unique opportunity to experience being caught in Kinnikuman Sorujaa’s Waza themselves and are welcome to take photos!

Another exciting addition to the exhibits is the Kyodai Komikku (Giant Comic). This special display features Dai 205-wa (Episode 205), titled “Makoto no Ougi!!” (“True Secret Technique!!”), taken from volume 60 of the original manga Gensaku. This episode depicts the climactic battle between Goorudoman, who is Akuma Shougun, and Jihi no Kami, who is Choujin Enma Za・Man, illustrating the culmination of the conflict between their differing ideologies. Just like the life-size figure, this exhibit is perfect for photo opportunities, and you can actually turn the pages to read it just like a regular comic!

Beyond these new features, the museum already boasts impressive Toushindai Figyua of the Choujin who star in the series, including Kinnikuman, Teriiman, Robin Masuku, Woozuman, and Ashuraman. Seeing these characters at their full size allows visitors to truly feel their imposing presence. Each figure is accompanied by their famous lines and profiles, and the surrounding design, reminiscent of outer space, transports you to an otherworldly realm.
