Space Battleship Yamato 50th Anniversary Exhibition Coming to Osaka! Featuring Legendary Planning Documents and a Giant Yamato Ship Model! Limited Collaborations and New Merchandise Also Available
Great news for fans of the legendary sci-fi anime! The “Uchuusenkan Yamato Zen Kiroku Ten” (Space Battleship Yamato Complete Records Exhibition), commemorating the 50th anniversary of 『Uchuusenkan Yamato』’s broadcast, will be held for 16 days from July 19th to August 3rd, 2025, at the Nanba Skyo 7F Convention Hall in Osaka. This exhibition is planned and produced by none other than Annou Hideaki. Advance tickets will go on sale starting June 7th at 10:00 AM.

『Uchuusenkan Yamato』 began with its first TV series broadcast from October 1974 to March 1975, and since then, numerous TV series, theatrical films, and live-action movies have been produced. As a cornerstone of SF anime that continues to inspire new works even today, it remains deeply loved by many.
The “Uchuusenkan Yamato Zen Kiroku Ten” is an exhibition planned and produced by Annou Hideaki, who has stated, “If I hadn’t encountered 『Uchuusenkan Yamato』, I wouldn’t be who I am today.” The previous Tokyo venue in Shibuya back in March was incredibly popular, with lines forming for entry every single day throughout its duration.
Exploring the Origins: Exhibition Highlights
With the cooperation of the Anime Tokusatsu Archive Center (ATAC), the venue will display valuable, never-before-seen materials. Starting with the legendary proposal document from the time of its creation, a variety of production materials such as setting art, key animation (genga), background art, and cel art (seru ga) will be showcased, following the 296,000 light-year journey and 26 episodes depicted in the TV series. Visitors can relive the journey of the work and truly feel the charm of the masterpiece that laid the foundation for anime history.

Also on display will be original scripts and materials that allow visitors to enjoy the sound effects.

Another highlight is the vast timeline space that chronicles the 50-year history of 『Uchuusenkan Yamato』, from the original 1974 Yamato to the currently airing remake series, presented chronologically.

Furthermore, records, plastic models (puramoderu), and toys from the original broadcast era, as well as a large model of the Yamato ship, will be on display.

Also featured is a detailed cutaway model of the Yamato.

Exclusive Merchandise and Collaborations
In addition to the exhibits, original “Uchuusenkan Yamato Zen Kiroku Ten” merchandise commemorating the 50th anniversary will be available for purchase at the venue. The Osaka venue is planned to carry items sold at the Tokyo exhibition, plus new goods! Collaboration projects with restaurants and bookstores are also in the works, with details to be announced later on the official website.
