It has been announced that the Netflix series **My Melody & Kuromi** will begin worldwide exclusive distribution starting July 24, 2025. Alongside this exciting news, the main trailer and key art have been released. Furthermore, it was revealed that the theme song for this series will be a new track titled “Kawaii (Prod. Gen Hoshino)”, performed by the five-member girl group LE SSERAFIM and produced by Hoshino Gen.
About the Series
**My Melody & Kuromi** is a stop-motion anime starring My Melody, who celebrated her 50th anniversary in 2025, and Kuromi, who reached her 20th anniversary. The story is an original tale set in Marry Land, the home of My Melody and Kuromi, where the duo confronts a major incident that shakes the fate of their town. Each episode is approximately 13 minutes long, with a total of 12 episodes planned.

The newly released trailer offers glimpses of My Melody happily baking cakes with her friends, beaming with joy surrounded by customers, and contrasts this with Kuromi showing a face full of jealousy. It also teases the sudden crisis that befalls Marry Land and the two characters standing up to face it. Will they be able to protect Marry Land and their companions from the threat? Their bond is truly something to look forward to – they are complete opposites in looks, thoughts, and personality, yet precisely because of this, they can help and support each other. This “MeloKuro” relationship is sure to be a highlight.
A Dream Collaboration for the Theme Song
The trailer also provided the first snippet of the series’ theme song, “Kawaii (Prod. Gen Hoshino),” performed by the five-member girl group LE SSERAFIM. The dream collaboration came about because LE SSERAFIM, possessing both cuteness and coolness much like My Melody and Kuromi themselves, are seen as a presence that can offer both healing and courage.
The production, composition, arrangement, and lyrics for “Kawaii (Prod. Gen Hoshino)” were handled by Hoshino Gen, a leading figure in pop music, marking his first collaboration with LE SSERAFIM. The song was created by Hoshino to reflect the world of **My Melody & Kuromi** and the charm of LE SSERAFIM, expressing not only the characters’ cute appearances but also the series’ underlying message about the importance and brilliance of believing in yourself and moving forward.
The theme song “Kawaii (Prod. Gen Hoshino)” will be included on LE SSERAFIM’s Japan 4th single, “DIFFERENT”, set for release on June 24. Leading up to this, the jacket photos and artwork for the My Melody & Kuromi version will be unveiled at 12:00 PM on June 12.
New Key Art Revealed
In addition, the key art, featuring residents of Marry Land and original characters from the series, has also been revealed. This is a truly fitting way to celebrate My Melody and Kuromi’s “matching” anniversary year, and anticipation is high for the birth of this new story filled with their distinct charms.
