About the Movie Kitarou Tanjou: Gegege no Nazo
The movie Kitarou Tanjou: Gegege no Nazo is a feature-length work based on the 6th anime series of Gegege no Kitarou, depicting the original story of the series related to Kitarou’s birth. It tells the tale of the encounter between Kitarou’s father, who was once Medama Oyaji, and the salaryman Mizuki, and the destiny they face together. The film received the Excellence Award for Animation at the 47th Japan Academy Prize.
A special version of the film with refined visuals and sound, Kitarou Tanjou: Gegege no Nazo Shinsei-ban, was also released in October 2024. Furthermore, a selection of masterpieces titled Gegege no Kitarou: Watashi no Aishita Rekidai Gegege is currently airing since April 2025, commemorating the 10th anniversary of author Mizuki Shigeru’s passing.

Washi-style Trading Can Badge
The illustrations are packed with the feeling of each of the four seasons. For example, spring depicts Kitarou and Medama Oyaji with dandelions, while summer shows the memorable sight of Kitarou no Chichi and his mother enjoying watermelon on the engawa.

In autumn and winter, Kitarou no Chichi and Mizuki make their appearance. Autumn shows them grilling sanma over a shichirin, while winter depicts them relaxing under a kotatsu. These illustrations capture heart-warming, everyday moments that differ from the main story.

The lineup of goods includes Washi-style Trading Can Badge, Real Film Photo, Acrylic Stand, Clear File & Sticker Set, Postcard Set, 2-Piece Acrylic Key Holder, Hand Towel, and Acrylic Card. The reservation period is until July 13th. Shipping of the products is scheduled for late September 2025.
