The official website for the anime adaptation of Saeki-san’s light novel series, Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken, recently dropped some exciting updates about its second season. We’ve got details on the production staff, plus confirmation that the angelic Mahiru Shiina and the surprisingly relatable Amane Fujimiya will be back on our screens in Spring 2026!
If you know the series by its English name, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, you’ll be happy to hear the story continues, picking up after the events of the first season, which was animated by Project No.9 and aired back in Winter 2023.

The Story So Far: From Web Novel to Print
The journey of Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken began as a web novel penned by Saeki-san on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website back in December 2018. It quickly gained popularity and was picked up for publication by SB Creative under their GA Bunko imprint.
The first print volume featured illustrations by Hazano Kazutake and was released in June 2019. Starting with the second volume, the illustrations have been handled by Hanekoto, who is also credited with the original character designs for the anime. As of March 15th this year, the 11th volume of the light novel is available, with volume 11.5 planned for release on September 13th. The series boasts an impressive cumulative total of 2.5 million copies in print!
The story also received a manga adaptation, with writing credited to Wan Shibata and artwork by Suzu Yuuki. This manga version started running on Square Enix’s Manga UP! web magazine in January 2022. The 5th volume of the manga adaptation hit shelves on March 7th.
Bringing the Story to English Readers
For fans outside of Japan, the series is also available in English. Yen Press holds the license for the light novel under the title The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. They began releasing the series in English in July 2020, with the 8.5th volume published on May 20th this year.
Square Enix is bringing the manga adaptation to English as well. They are publishing it digitally on their Manga Up! online magazine. The third volume of the English manga release came out on January 21st, and the fourth volume is scheduled for an October 7th release.
