Manga artist Fukuda Shinichi’s **Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru**, serialized in “Young Gangan,” unfortunately concluded its run in March 2025, just before the Season 2 anime began. However, the anime returned with even more energy and charm than its predecessor!

The story follows Gojou Wakana, a high school boy aspiring to become a Hina Doll artisan, and Kitagawa Marin, a popular girl who’s always the center of attention in class. Their chance encounter leads them to bond and deepen their friendship through the exciting world of cosplay.

※Please be aware that the following text contains spoilers for those who have not yet watched the anime, due to the nature of the topic. Proceed with caution.

On the day of the broadcast, original manga author Fukuda Shinichi posted an image of Liz-kyun from “Saba Koma” (Subaru Koma) on his social media. Kitagawa Marin also cosplayed Liz-kyun in Season 1. The “black object” Liz-kyun is holding appears to be the juice that the protagonist of “Saba Koma,” Kaname-kun, always drinks.

Jujusama’s Unexpected Return to the Cosplay Scene

Episode 21 kicked off with Kitagawa Marin calling Inui Sajuna, proposing a “awase” (group cosplay photoshoot) for the horror game “Hitsugi” (Coffin). Sajuna, known for her solo approach to cosplay, immediately refused, stating, “I told you before that I have no intention of associating with other cosplayers!”

However, upon seeing her younger sister, Inui Shinju, visibly dejected by the refusal, Sajuna had a change of heart and decided to participate in the awase. Despite her initial reluctance, shown by her gritting teeth as she agreed, fans online adored her decision. Comments poured in, praising **”Jujusama is so kind,”** **”Jujusama is good because she’s kind to her sister lol,”** and **”Jujusama, who cares so much for her sister, is too cute as a kind older sister.”** It seems her tsundere-like affection for Shinju resonated deeply with viewers!

An Awkward After-Party and a New Character’s Enigma

Sajuna and Shinju then joined Kitagawa Marin and her friends for an after-party following the cosplay event. While Itou Suzuka and cross-dressing cosplayer Hime no Amane were excited to meet the sisters for the first time, Ogata Akira remained unusually quiet, a continuation of her reserved demeanor from the previous episode. However, the moment Marin stepped away to use the restroom, Akira suddenly started talking…

Online, viewers were quick to notice, with remarks like **”Akira-san started talking when Kitagawa-san was gone,”** **”Akira-san suddenly went silent when Kitagawa-san came back,”** and **”Akira-san seems to dislike Kitagawa-san.”**

Amane, also curious about Akira’s behavior, followed her when she went out for a cigarette. Amane directly asked her, “Are you not good with Marin-chan?” This blunt question was then overheard by Gojou Wakana, who happened to be passing by, setting the stage for more potential drama.

A Night of Gaming and Impressive In-Game World Building

Later that night, Gojou Wakana stopped by Kitagawa Marin’s house to play “Hitsugi” together. Marin, learning that Wakana’s grandfather was staying at his cousin’s house for the weekend, playfully teased him, “Does that mean you can stay late tonight? …Or even stay over?”

As they delved into the pixel art world of “Hitsugi,” the internet was filled with praise for the game’s incredible quality within the anime:
**”The quality of the ‘Hitsugi’ game is insane!”**
**”The game scenes for ‘Hitsugi’ in Kisekoi are so authentic and amazing.”**
**”The BGM and atmosphere of ‘Hitsugi’ are absolutely perfect.”**
**”‘Hitsugi’ being pixel art was a surprise!! And they made it look like a game that could actually be finished in 7 hours, it was seriously too good!”**
**”Kisekoi’s passion for its in-show creations, what is going on? The ‘Hitsugi’ game-like feeling makes you want to try it yourself.”**
**”Why do they bring this level of quality to in-show creations every time lol.”**

The production team behind “Hitsugi” was later revealed by CloverWorks’ Someya Shou. Sukegawa Hirohiko was responsible for character design, and Narume-san handled the pixel art.

Narume-san, an illustrator active in the actual game industry, confessed that participating in **Kisekoi** was a special experience, posting, “I watched it feeling so nervous I thought I was going to throw up… Koooooh.”

A Trip to Don Quijote and a Grand Misunderstanding

While playing “Hitsugi” and trying on the game’s cosplay outfits Kitagawa Marin had bought, the clock ticked past 9:57 PM. Wakana, checking his phone to plan his departure, discovered that the trains had stopped due to a personal accident!

“Gojou-kun, are you staying over tonight?” Marin asked with a serious expression. Wakana vehemently refused, saying, “I absolutely cannot!” However, he couldn’t risk walking home and catching another cold, worrying his grandfather.

Feeling guilty and awkward about staying overnight alone with Marin, Wakana was then casually told by Marin, “Let’s go buy some things at the neighborhood Don Quijote.” What awaited them there surprised viewers even more!

**”The Donki store recreation is insane.”**
**”They really went to Donki. Did they get cooperation?”**
**”Donki’s song is playing in Kisekoi lol.”**
**”They’re using Donki’s song as is w.”**
**”When Donki’s song played in Kisekoi, I got as hyped as I do when I visit the store.”**
**”I can’t believe Donki’s theme song played in the Kisekoi anime…”**
**”Where is the Donki that appeared in the Kisekoi anime?”**
**”This means there will be a Kisekoi x Donki collaboration.”**

Kitagawa Marin and Gojou Wakana actually headed to the general discount store, the “Palace of Bargains” – Don Quijote! Marin had indeed said **”the neighborhood Donki,”** and they truly went to a Donki! In Episode 19, Canon Marketing Japan’s cooperation brought a real **”Canon Mirrorless Single-Lens Reflex Camera EOS Kiss M”** to the screen, astounding viewers. This time, Pan Pacific International Holdings (the global company operating Don Quijote, Apita, and others) provided their support.

And a collaboration has been decided!

It turns out that the realistic background was based on research conducted at the Don Quijote Oomiya East Exit store. By the way, the in-store BGM playing in the episode is also the actual “MIRACLE SHOPPING ~Don Quijote’s Theme~” (lyrics, composition, and vocals by Tanaka Maimi-san). It’s the real deal!

The Ultimate Misunderstanding

At Don Quijote, Wakana discovered an energy drink that appeared to be the “model” for the juice Kaname-kun from “Saba Koma” always drinks.

“It’s a real product!” he thought, deeply moved. Seeing this, a new realization dawned on him: (That’s right—if I don’t sleep, it won’t be “staying over,” it’ll be “I stayed until the trains started moving again.”)

Wakana then picked out what seemed like the most effective drink to keep him awake. But in Kitagawa Marin’s eyes, she saw names like “Zetsurin Kyoku” (Extreme Stamina) and “Chouzetsu Z” (Super Z) – brands of nutritional drinks that seemed to promise a “different effect.” She timidly asked:

“G-Gojou-kun, are you buying that…?”
Wakana replied, “Yes,” and continued:
“Ore, Konya Neru Tsumori Nai node.” (I don’t plan on sleeping tonight.)

“‘Ore Konya Neru Tsumori Nai node’ — IT’S HEEERRREEE!!!!!” Spira Spica’s vocalist, Mikihaha, who sings the opening theme “Ao to Kirameki,” was absolutely thrilled!

Watching Wakana’s back as he headed to the checkout, Marin’s heart pounded with the suddenness of the situation…

“Kitagawa-san’s misunderstanding is too much,” “Misunderstanding Marin-chan made me burst out laughing,” “Such a huge misunderstanding (lol),” “The misunderstandings are piling up and making it lewd,” “Zetsurin www Marin-san’s misunderstanding is unavoidable w,” “Zetsurin Gojou-kun wwww,” “Gojou-kun’s motivation isn’t *that* way, though…,” “Gojou-kun just picked up an energy drink, but because of the questionable items next to it, Marin-chan had a grand misunderstanding lol.”

Kitagawa Marin’s magnificent misunderstanding sent everyone into a frenzy. Suguta Hina, the voice of Kitagawa Marin, also joined the excitement, tweeting, “I can’t sleep!!!!!!!!!!! Don Don Don ♪♪♪.”

Youmiya Hina, who voices Inui Shinju, the sister who adores her older sister, posted, “The conflict my big sister went through for cosplay truly overflowed with her sisterly kindness. I’m filled with such happiness to see Shinju-chan frolicking in the anime again.”

Miyake Marie, voice of Itou Suzuka, wrote, “Sisters are precious, and the world of Hitsugi is so amazing it saves me~!!!”

Kazama Mayuko, voice of Honda Miyako, who screamed with Suzuka, quietly remarked, “I put my heart into performing Miyako-san’s cry from the soul. …I hope both of them get saved.”
