These super soft and chibi-fied goods will be available for purchase starting Friday, February 6, 2026 at the Chiikawa Market online store and other select retailers.
What is Chiikawa?
Chiikawa is the wildly popular manga series created by illustrator Nagano, who has been posting it on X (formerly Twitter) since 2020. The story follows the daily lives of the tiny, hardworking Chiikawa and his friends—lives that are fun, sometimes heartbreaking, and a little tough. Its relatable charm has won over a massive audience from kids to adults, amassing over 4.5 million followers on X to date.
The franchise’s popularity is undeniable, having won the Grand Prize in the Japan Character Awards for 2022, 2024, and again in 2025. An anime adaptation airs every Tuesday and Friday within Fuji TV’s Mezamashi Terebi program, with one-week limited catch-up streaming available on YouTube, TVer, and FOD after each broadcast. Fans also have something huge to look forward to: the series’ first movie, Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu (which can be translated as Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island), is set to hit theaters in the summer of 2026!
