New “Haikyuu!!” Merchandise Features Cute Childhood Illustrations
Get ready for a dose of pure, youthful energy! New merchandise from the anime Haikyuu!!, featuring brand-new illustrations of the characters in their adorable childhood forms, has been announced. These charming goods will go on sale at Animate stores across Japan starting May 16, 2026. Coinciding with the release, a special campaign called the “Anime ‘Haikyuu!!’ Yoshoo!! Animate Fair” will also begin, offering bonus illustration cards with purchases.
A Volleyball Legend
Haikyuu!! is nothing short of a modern classic. This monumental sports manga by Furudate Haruichi captivated readers with its intense portrayal of high school volleyball and the fiery passion of its characters. Serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2012 for over eight and a half years, the series has seen its compiled volume sales soar past 75 million copies.
The TV anime adaptation, which began in 2014 and ran through its fourth season by December 2020, didn’t just satisfy manga fans—it ignited a global phenomenon, pulling anime viewers worldwide into its whirlwind of thrilling matches and heartfelt drama.
The franchise’s momentum only grew with the February 2024 film, Gekijouban Haikyuu!! Gomi Suteba no Kessen (also known as Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle). This cinematic showdown between Karasuno High and their fated rivals, Nekoma High, was a massive hit, raking in over 20 billion yen at the worldwide box office. Its critical acclaim was solidified with a win for Excellent Animation of the Year at the Japan Academy Film Prize, cementing its status as one of the most exciting sports anime today.
And the excitement is far from over! Eagerly awaited sequels are on the horizon: Gekijouban Haikyuu!! VS Chiisana Kyojin (covering the dual quarter-final matches of Karasuno vs. Kamomedai and Fukurodani vs. Nohebi) and the special anime Haikyuu!! Bakemono-tachi no Iku Tokoro are both scheduled for release in 2027.

The newly announced line of merchandise shines a spotlight on the characters’ younger days. It features never-before-seen illustrations of a pint-sized Hinata Shouyou, Tsukishima Kei, Yamaguchi Tadashi, Kozume Kenma, and Kuroo Tetsurou.
The product lineup is diverse, including items like acrylic stands, trading glitter can badges, and a clear card 5-piece set. For fans who love a simple, stylish accessory, there are also text acrylic keychains adorned with each character’s name.
The “Yoshoo!!” Animate Fair
From May 16 to June 7, 2026, Animate stores nationwide (excluding the online shop) will host the “Anime ‘Haikyuu!!’ Yoshoo!! Animate Fair.”
During this period, customers who purchase or place a reservation (with a deposit) for any Haikyuu!! anime-related merchandise—including these new childhood-themed items—or buy qualifying books and audio-visual products, will receive a random bonus illustration card from a set of five unique designs. It’s the perfect reason to check out these cute new goods!
